Smile New here, couple of questions

HI,

I'm new to this forum, but I've been a Z fan ever since I first saw a 280 back when I was a kid in the early 80's. I looked at several z forums before I decided this one looked like the best, so I joined today.

I've come close to buying one a couple of times, but haven't yet, and have some questions.

One of my biggest concerns is the tire feathering. I've seen all kinds of news related to this, but has Nissan finally gotten this fixed? In other words, will a 2005 more than likely have this problem?

Second, I remember when the 350 first came out, press releases said that the production would be limited to like 35,000. Obviously, that must have been for one year, but will Nissan voluntarily stop production any time soon? I'm thinking I'll be ready to buy one in the 2006-7 model year and I want to make sure they're still being sold!!

I guess that's it! Any help would be great!

So far I have not read about anyone having problems with a 2005 model. I'm sure some have about 7000-10,000 miles at least and if they aren't feathering yet, thats a pretty good indication that it's alright. I'm not completely sure if it's fixed totally, no one is. And, although it's not certain, I've read things about 05 models having different suspension stats.

I doubt they are going to stop producing the Z any time soon. I've not read any news on it, but who knows. For sure there will at least be a 2006. If you search for it, you can find pictures of it on the forums.

I talked to a salesman (I know, bad idea) and he told me that the tire feathering was only on 03's and only with the 18" tires. DOes this sound right?

I have an '05 w/ a 09/2005 build date w/ over 7k wiles on it. No uneven tire wear reported. Knock on wood. Also have my car lowered. There is a guy that just reported he has tire wear after 11k mile on an 05 but don't know his build date. Unfortuantely tire wear is always gonna be a problem w/ a sports car that has staggered tire that cannot be roated. Unless you're having to change tires every 5K to 10K miles you're doing pretty good. Good luck.

Oh and if you have the stock Brigstones you have to remember that their UTQG rating is only 140.
