Hello fellow Z fans
My name is Dave. I'm a long time reader, first time poster. I struggled with the whole S2000 vs Z dilemma for a long time before finally making the right decision. I've had my 06 Daytona Blue Enthusiast 6MT for almost 3 weeks now and have loved each and every painstakingly slow mile driven so far.
The addition of 3M's Scotchgard paint protectant film within 12 hours of ownership was my first modification. I'm a little disappointed with the results of the application though. I found this place off 3M's site and after spending $700+ and suffering seperation anxiety from my new Z, I can still see wrinkled areas that were supposed to "smooth themselves out as the film cures/dries". It's been 3 weeks now and the wrinkles aren't looking much better. The tiny water bubbles did disipate as they had said but not the wrinkles.
I've also had the Zaino kit in my possession before I took delivery of the car so it's been real hard to have to wait this long for the damn bra to fix itself! I'll post some before/after pics too for those that have not tried Zaino (myself included).
The first two problems I've noticed with my Z is that my steering wheel's volume control doesn't seem fully functional. When I turn the volume down, it doesn't sense the input unless I press down fairly hard. All other switches are much more sensitive, including "volume up".
Secondly, it seems like my Z is sometimes stubborn with warm starts. Sometimes it doesn't start. Sometimes it starts, bogs, and then dies if I don't quickly blip the gas. I've experienced something similar with my previous Hondas. Flaky main relays
The manual talks about depressing the throttle half way while cranking but it seems silly to me that a $30k car can't start itself every time without driver input. I'm also used to honda starters. I just crank for a rather short period of time and it fires. Something like 2-3 cycles before it starts. Maybe I've just got to crank for a little longer? Anyone with similar problems?
