She's here! She's mine! 2006 GT R-Tune
Hi all
Thanks for the awesome and kind words! I've put a lot of thought into this package and she was 4 months in the waiting...
She started as a Grand Touring because I wanted all the interior perks (leather, power, etc.).
Then all of the Nismo catalog S- and R- Tune parts were installed. Rather than list it all out just go to nismoparts.com and look at their S- and R- tune catalogs. That about sums it up. If anyone is interested in a detailed parts list just PM me.
Someone asked about the cams... on the 06 (and late 05) RevUp motors, the intake and exhaust cams both have a timing sensor. The previous models only have a sensor on the intake cam. The service guys and Nismo techs had a long chat and it was determined that the Nismo intake cams will work fine, but the exhaust cams would not. As was mentioned, the Rev-Up motor has a different cam profile which is good news because the new RevUp exhaust cams are very close in spec to the Nismo exhaust cams. So the system works perfectly using only the Nismo intake cams with the OEM exhaust cams. Nismo stated that the power improvements would be the same (maybe 1hp loss).
As for cost..I'm not one to talk about those kind of details. I work my butt off, make my money, and well, you know how it goes. If you are really interested PM me. It's not as much as you might think because when you get stuff like this installed on delivery, then you don't pay for labor (just like you don't pay for labor for them to install kick-plates or power mirrors). But I can tell you that at the end of the day when you look at the bottom line I only paid for the cost of the parts. Certainly didn't pay the cost of all this plus a twin-turbo.
I'm lovin her. And I agree she sorely needs a lip spoiler. But it is almost a unique look to it's own. Almost enough to make me keep her this way...almost. The lip spoiler is one of my favorite visuals on the car besides the OEM front wheel flares and the roofline. So it's on the menu. And I don't think the Nismo item is that far out. I'd heard from a few local vendors that it could be ready by mid-year. I hope so anyway, because I'm picky about the style I want. And Veilside told me directly that there were no plans for an 06 lip spoiler from them.
Oh wel...something will come along eventually. Until then she is plenty purty to keep me happy.
Thanks everyone! Time to go play and install some of the goodies sittin here (a shorty antennae being one of them.... although the OEM black looks pretty good on the current color-scheme...).
Cheers,
-Smoky

If I had to do it all over again, I would have done exactly what you did. Nice ****ING Z man! You can't get any better. Leave it alone and don't add anything else except maybe an antenna.
Once again nice RIDE! My top vote for best Z and I have been here almost 3 years.

I just wanted to cast my vote too. Absolutely awesome. Maybe the cleanest 350Z I have ever seen. And all Nissan/Nismo too. That is exactly what a Z should look like!
CLASSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
CLASSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And congrats BTW... the GT is the creme' de creme'. And the 06 has tons of new goodies and tons better build-quality. It makes the GT really, really shine. I dare say the 06 Z GT's interior may be even nicer on the inside than what the G riders sit in. But the difference is the focus in design. Man they really did their homework building this interior.

Thanks again folks. Awesome compliments.
I really appreciate it!
I wondered about that. I'd never seen one stopped horizontal before. I kind of liked it...it's hidden that way. :-) I'll check later to see if it got stopped mid-cycle, or if it's yet another 06 thing.

I'm getting my 06 SS GT next week. I'm going to make mine look just like yours.
