Default Question about Nissan Warranty -- GPS

Hi, I just bought an 06 Z and it had an after-market Eclipse GPS system in it (installed by Nissan). The finance guy convinced me into paying for the extended warranty because it covers "electronics" and he said that the GPS is part of that.

I am now worried that maybe he did not know this was an Eclipse after-market GPS. Is this going to be covered under my plan (which is 60 months or 60,000 miles)?

Thanks

I don't know. Did you read the warranty?

It just says "electronics." But I am worried that it only covers Nissan parts. I am not sure what happens when the dealer installs an after-market unit, like in my case.

I'm guessing it won't cover it. Having said that, if that's the only reason you bought the extended warranty, I think you can actually cancel it. I read it costs something like $40 do cancel, although I remember reading somewhere that if you do it within "x" amount of time, there was no charge.

I would also be leery. What if the dealer installed a non-Nissan alarm system?

I know the extended warranty thats included with mine says that if w/in 60 days you choose to cancell it and have not incurred any incidents where the warranty was used you will be refunded the full amount. After that it goes to a pro rated amount.

I specifically read for that because, well reading contracts is essential to making sure you aren't getting messed over. Plus it scares the sales people and may make them think about taking some bogus stuff out. Doesn't help I want to be an attorney.

Look at your contract and there should be a number you can call and ask them to tell you specifically what they cover. If not cancell it and if they try and charge you a lot show them the contract that you both signed.
