Exclamation New 2006 White 350Z Owner, got a paint problem !

I just picked up my 2006 White 350z last week and I am wondering if there are any other owners out there with a similar paint problem.

After washing the car, I noticed that there are very very tiny black/yellowish dots all over the car's paint surface. Except for the areas where it originally had plastic sheet covered (the white plastic sheets that covers the hood, and few other areas of the car before the car is delivered to the dealer).

When I compared the paint between the hood and the front fenders, I can see that the hood is slightly whiter than the fender. When I look closely, about 10cm away, I can see the tiny black/yellowish dots on the areas not covered by the plastic sheets.

If I rub those black dots with my nail, it comes off, but not very easily.

I guess this is most obvious to a white car. Any other white or silver owners out there have a similar problem?

I am going to take it to the dealer and get them to do a professional detail job on the car to get rid of all those black dots.

That might be what they call, Industrial fallout... It is just superficial particles that oxidize on top of the paint... especially noticable on white paint...

If you have a detailer around you, or even demand that the dealer have the car treated with a "clay bar"... that will remove all of those specs without damaging the clear coat...

I experienced the same thing with a white car I once purchased...

Good luck,
"CLAY BAR"

Pikes Peak White driver here. Haven't the faintest idea what the dots are, but obviously dealer preparation shouild have taken care of it.

Unfortunately you are the victim of either acid rain or like someone mentioned some sort of air particulate (i.e. industrial fallout).

I would demand that the dealer have the whole car professionally buffed and re-sealed.

That's exactly what I plan to do.

Because when I picked up my car, the paint was not even smooth. At least not as smooth as the ones I felt in some of the brand new cars in autoshows.

I got a feeling that my dealer only took off the plastic sheets from the car and just washed it.

By the way, are all brand new 350Z supposed to be nicely polished/waxed before delivered to the customer? Or does that cost extra?

dont know about the dots, but the hood and fender color difference is normal (especially for metallic paint). My hood, bumper and fender are like 3 different shades, but in only shows in certain lighting condtions. I think it might be because the bumper, hood and fenders are made of different materials. I have a PPW btw.
