Smile Just purchased 2003 Enthusiast

After viewing this forum for a year I am finally in. Just bought a 03 Black Enthusiast with 15,000 miles for $20,000. It is in beautiful shape. I am just hoping I can avoid some of the problems with the 03's I do have a question about tire longevity. I spoke to the Service Manager at the local Nissan dealer and he said the tires that I have only last between 15,000 to 18,000 miles approx. He said that the tires that I have (Potenza RE 040) are very soft. I could extend the wear by getting a harder tire. Has this been anyone's experience here? What do tires generally cost for this model.
I sold my 2001 Mustang Gt to get this car. Although I loved that car
it does not compare to my new Z.

Yes it's true that if you get a harder tire it won't feather or wear out as fast. The Potenzas do tend to wear out rather quick.

I changed my stock potenzas to 245/45/17 and 255/45/17 Falken Ziex's. They are wider but still fit on the stock rim (and they keeps a stagger so not to mess up your traction control), have a 30k tread warranty and get much better traction than the potenza's... they are like $120-150 each I think at discount.

edit... to answer your question, yes the potenzas only last about 20k if you are lucky and run almost $1000 a set... so don't replace your tires with the oem's
