Im new to the fourm and beginnng to figure out the nooks and cranies. But for now I want to get some basics answered to determine if i even want to explore anymore. I read that modding a Z can be quite expensive. To get the 0-60 in the low 5s and 1/4 mile between 12.7-13.2, how much $$ are we talking, and keep in mind I want my Z to stay dependable and be a daily driver.

With respect, we have a rash of 16-year old wannabees posting the same questions week after week. Read. Ask informed questions. Informed questions.

Ok pal, search "mods" and see how many topics come up. I am looking for ballpark figures, just to get the ball ruling.

I total understand about this a noob question and it has been asked numerous times. However, I currenlty own two cars and am running mid 13s, and I am interested in owing a Z. Just looking for estimates. Thx

It all depends on the driver!

Mid 5 second range, and high 13 low 14 second range! Now finish searching, there are 1000's of topics here!

Ok, so it narrows my seach down from the 10,000s to only a few hundred. I can actully spend a fairly larger amout of money. It is my second year with the firm and was just promoted this past month and have a salary in the upper 50s. I can afford to shell out a few Ks. I am not trying to start a war of words here. I have been around cars (domestic) my whole life and I am just looking for a rough estimate on how to speed up a Z. For all the time people have wasted telling me to search, they could have used those 30seconds and gave me an answer. Also, I am not looking for a 4 second car, 5 will do fine. Evos/Stis have inferior exterior and interior compared to a Z.

I would say put $30k aside, that should cover your power needs.

Well, Good luck to you! The Z is an awesome car. I love mine. I have a little sympathy for you, because you're right. The search option returns a ton of threads, and Its hard to narrow it down. As a new member, I've gotten flamed hardcore for my ignorance on the forum, even though my automotive knowledge is extensive. Just get a flame retardant nomex suit, and ignore the flames.

That being said, I can't help you. The times you're shooting for depend too much on the driver. I would recommend shooting for a power level, then searching the mods section again.

Good luck! I hope you settle on the Z.

For the life of me I cant figure out why this is so difficult to find: https://my350z.com/forum/drag/233840-top-25-1-4-mile-times-for-tt-st-supercharger-nitrous-bolt-ons-stock.html.

for 12's your looking at FI as the most cost effective method...so your talking 5-7k for a supercharger as the cheapest route. For low 13's i mean its definitly up to the driver and you could spend a few k on NA mods and get there. the reason people are flaming you is that as guy who supposedly knows a good deal about cars you would surely know how to find some really obvious info such as 1/4 and 0-60 times.

theres also an abundance of info in the tech/engine drivetrain FI sections

Thank you to the last few posters, espically 03brickyardZ. All I was looking for were rough estimates. 30K seems a bit high though. Work was hectic tonight and I did not have the time to search hundreds of posts.

No hurry. There is plenty of time to figure this out.

Yes. I and other racers have plenty of 14.3, 14.2, 14.1 and 14.0 time slips. I just posted my personal best time. Keep in mind the the list is voluntary: you have to submit your time slip. So racers running, for example 14.1 seconds, may not want their ET posted.
