Question About to pull the trigger on the deal.. asking for you Opinion...

What's up everybody, I'm Al, this is my first post as i've been lurking for a few weeks doing my homework on the Z before going in and purchasing one. The time's finally come where i found a Z that's to my liking.

First of, i live in NYC and found an 04 Daytona Blue Performance w/40,910 miles down in Ft.Lauderdale. It's in great shape, carfax is clean, there's really only one thing i don't like, it's got the light grey/off-white interior. I mean, it's something i can live with, but i was really looking for black leather, but i guess you can't win em all.

Anyways, i've been in talks with the dealer down there and they're apparently not willing to part from their price of $20,995. I've already secured financing on my own so i'm purchasing as if it were a cash sale so i plan on going in there with the bank check and offering $19,500 out the door, take it or leave it. What do you guys think?

I know i have some leverage, but i'm just wondering if $19,500 taxes, title included would be a good look. Opinions are welcome, thanks.

First of all I would not go down there until a deal is secured. Paying in cash actually gives you no leverage like most people think. I myself would not buy a car close to 50k miles at that price even if it's a good deal. If you are willing to pay $20k, then consider a little bit more and get a better trim/year/mileage car. That's my 2 cents.

The white interior is unique. I think that it is beautiful. Others may not.

I would not buy a vehicle that I have not seen and driven no matter what the price.

Thanks for the input, i appreciate it. I've been searching for a while and haven't been able to find the right Z - not using that as an excuse to go out and buy this one though.

Let me clarify, i'm not going to buy sight unseen so-to speak, even if i do fly down there, there's no obligation for me to purchase just as they can go ahead and sell before i even get there. The worst that can happen is for the deal not to go down and I spend the weekend in South Beach chillin' with friends - that's the way i see it.

Trust me man it takes time and patience but you'll know the right car when you come across it. I remember passing up a lot of deals when I was looking for mine in 2004. I looked for about 6 months and drove out of state to buy another lady's car. Turns out her car had problems and I had to come back empty. Along the way I stopped by a dealership for $h_ts and giggles. When I got there they had an 03 SS sitting in the back that just arrived that morning. Right then and there I knew that was the one.

That will work. You will know after you drive the car whether you want it or not. Best wishes.

Welcome the to forum, as the others say, you will know once you've driven which ever Z it turns out to be. If it's got a few kms on the clock, check it out very thoroughly. Good luck.
