Default Another New (And Happy) Z Owner

Finally got my Z yesterday!

I was going to go for a Touring model that one of the local dealers upgraded with the complete NISMO body kit, rims and exhaust, and a boatload of options. The car looked and sounded great, but he wanted more than I was willing to pay for it. With the exception of the NISMO add-ons, I really didn’t care for all the other “luxury” options—Satellite Radio, Navigation System, Heated Leather Power Seats—enough to pay for them. And the Bose Stereo only sounded marginally better than the standard one to me anyway. More fancy toys usually mean more to go wrong down the line—and more money (and aggravation) to get fixed. So I picked up this clean Carbon Silver 2007 Enthusiast Model (5AT) from another local dealer who is clearing out their inventory of Z’s for the ’08 models.

All of the good things about the Z that I’ve heard, read about and imagined are absolutely true, and now that I finally own one, I thankfully have an excuse to take the long way home (with lots of curves in between), whenever I’m behind the wheel of my new dream-come-true car.

Future upgrades planned:
  • Complete NISMO Body Kit (still haven’t decided on which rear spoiler—Version 1 or 2)
  • NISMO Cat-Back Exhaust System
  • NISMO LMGT4 Wheels (Silver, of course)
  • Stereo (Alpine with JL Audio Amp & Speakers)

Here are some pics of the car:

I only did a few test drives at different dealerships when I was ready to buy, before I finally got mine:
  • LeMans Blue '07 Roadster (Touring/5AT) - Nice but I'm really not into convertibles.
  • Silver Alloy "NISMO-ized" '07 Coupe (Touring/5AT) - This is the one I mentioned earlier. I would have walked away with that one, but the dealer wanted more than I was willing to pay for it and wouldn't budge on the price.
  • Solar Orange '07 Coupe (Touring/5AT) - This one was pre-owned, only 8,000 miles on it. The price was right and so was the color. I would have jumped on it right then and there if the previous owner had taken a little better care of the car. The dealership that had this car is where I purchased my Z.
Prior to that, the closest I ever got to driving a Z was in Need For Speed Underground 2, Forza Motorsport 2, GTR2, and Need For Speed Carbon (not the best of the Need For Speed series, but it had the Z at least, to sort of make up for it). In the meantime I had to "settle" for driving my 1986 C4 Corvette (bought it new back then in '86), which can't even begin to hold a candle to the Z.

The wait was definitely worth it.

Congrats! I bet the price difference between the two was substantial. Enthusiasts are great models.
