Default New caretaker of Z Roadster

I edited this post cause I didn't like the way it sounded the first time.. you know what I mean? You write it and it sounds good when your writing it, then you read it once its submitted and your embarrassed you wrote it. Anyway, here is the edited version....

Hey ya'll...I have been going through cars faster than shoes these days, in search of one that feels right and more importantly, keeps feeling right. So saturday last week I was out looking at a couple cars.. MB SLK, an M3 Vert, couple of others, but it had to be a convertible. I was driving a 335i Sedan for the last 4 months and got a great deal on it but hated it (really hated it), so I was hoping to trade in. Nobody was giving the 335i any love on the pricing of the trade.. nobody. I have always loved the 350z and decided to stop in and see what they had on the way home. There I spotted a 2008 Black (with orange and black seats) Touring Roadster... sitting there calling my name. I did some negotiating with them and they gave me better than all the rest on the trade, and got less than invoice on the Z, so I signed the deal and drove home in the car. It was very painless and kind of fun.

Anyway, I now have to get it into the garage and I already have my 356 Intermeccanica in there, so it will be tight, but its gotta happen. My wife is not impressed that I have two kids (1.5 and 4) and we now own a minivan and 2 convertibles... lol.. but hey, I work from home and have killed myself to get to where I am.. I deserve it right... and the couch isn't as uncomfortable as I thought it would be.

I will post up pics of my car when I can find a suitable place to take them as its the only way to really make the pics look any different than the other thousand roadsters you have seen here, but here is a quick picture of my 356 and the 335i thats now not mine.

congratulations on your new roadster.

since this is your 2nd vert, i'm sure your using some kind of softtop protectant right. for our cars, i believe the raggtop leans closer to vinyl material than fabric.

Yep, I absolutely have a couple shelves full of car products for just about every part of a car. I have learned things that work and things that don't over the years. I get my cars professionally detailed and polished once a year and they put all the best protectants etc on the tops for me. They use the 303 for the softtops...but they put something else I am not sure what it is on the ragtop.

I am not enjoying seeing the 350 outside, but have to wait until saturday to get the room in the garage to fit it in. The 356 has never seen a drop of rain as long as I have owned it, and the shape it was in when I bought it leads me to believe the same about the previous owner.

Damn I love cars.

Welcome! Great post. Thanks for the pics and congratulations. When you go touring with the family you can take both roadsters and a kid in each. Oh, scratch that. You're not supposed to take kids in the Z.

You'll love the car.

I know that you can't put rear facing seats in the Z, and the front facing seats are only for emergencies, but I was told and read in the manual that a booster seat for the 4 year old (48 lbs) was fine. It would also only be in an emergency, but I remember my S2000 didn't allow any children under 12 in the passenger seat because it didn't have the smart airbags like the Z.

This is something I should do some reading and searching on, but I did tell my wife that our oldest could be in his booster seat, so if its wrong, I need to purchase me the really really big jug of hand lotion, cause palmella will be my new wife, and she is already showing her age...
