You don't need help, you are just very excited.
Congratz on the new Z!! So where are the pics???!!
You have some time before changing oil or anything else. So the one thing you can do is read a lot. There is a lot of info at this and many other forums. Remember that there are many opinions out there on things to do or not to do, so take everything with a grain of salt and read all opinions and explanations until you are clear.
Going synthetic is an example. Some people say not to do so until the engine breaks in. The logic is that more slippery oil won't allow the engine to break in. Others will say the engine doesn't even need a break in period and to go for it. So now, you have to decide. And then there is your warranty, etc.
I can tell you what I did. I held off until the 5K miles, then switched over to synthetic, and changed religiously every 5K miles. Keep it clean, longer lasting engine. 60K miles later, no issues.
How do I change it? I take it down to the quick lube place. They drain it, put new in, and the value $$ is good. By the time you buy the oil, change it, get rid of the old and factor in your time, well, is almost that much.
If you do truly want to work on the car yourself and learn, do invest in a factory Service Manual. Everything you need to know is in there.
Get to know your car and settle down before you start modding etc. Look at pictures of what everybody else has done already and make a plan. This will keep you organized and in budget down the road. You can either spend a lot of $$$ and get nowhere, or spend organized and with a purpose and have the dream car you desire.
Enjoy!! Welcome to the Z maddnezz...

Welcome to the club! Join us for some meets. Look for info in the South East forum. I'm in Duluth with a black 07 Z.
Edit: The site doesn't like the link. Just search 350z oil changing on google. First link.

Oh yeah the club : a week after buying mine I had joined the SFZCC. Find a good club in your area. Meets are great, you learn a lot from others, and you can see what they have done to their cars in person and what works good and what didn't work so good.
Good opportunity to learn from others achievements and failures.

First of all... CONGRATS & welcome! I think it was you who posted how to find the odometer earlier right? haha lol
Change the oil @ around 1000 - 1300. Don't have to use synthetic, but it doesn't hurt and only provides better protection. As to what brand, pick a favorite? (Penzoil Platinum, German Castrol..)
The manual says to take it lightly on the car, I believe under ~4,000 RPMS for the first 1000 miles or so, but I'm not sure on the exact numbers so look do look it up.
edit: as was mentioned... hold off on the synthetic motor oil until the second oil change or so.

Read the owners manual. It was put together by the people who engineered and built your car. It contains everything you need to know about maintaining your car. Relying on what you find posted on the internet can be hazardous to the health of your car. You're already getting conflicting information and a lot of what you find on the net is based on speculation and old wife's tales. Hopefully you will have a service manager you can trust and good mechanics to work on your car (I do).
