New owner intro + exhaust upgrade question
Re: "K&N drop in" , is that a matter of literally just buying a filter and swapping out the OEM filter, or is there some installation required? I see on eBay they sell full kits with pipes, fasteners, etc. (for about $120) as well as just the standalone filter (about $35). Which one do I need?

you just need the filter, and yes, it just "drops in" takes 30 seconds.
I have never heard the Nismo in person. Never heard the Bassani in person before I bought it. I think they are fairly similar as far as loudness goes from clips Ive heard. The tricky part is that everyone will tell you their exhaust is best, because its theirs. I say just do some reading through old threads, use the sound clip thread, check out the gains people have gotten with each one, and take it from there. I obviously prefer the Bassani over the Nismo, but the Bassani has the sound charicteristics, and gains I was looking for. I dont think there are any exhausts for the Z that yield better gains than the Bassani, at least not yet.
