Will the Z be alright in the snow?
The Z is a powerful RWD sports car. This has direct and indirect meanings. Directly this mean it has low clearance, 3.7” to be exact. If there was 4” of snow on the ground, the car would literally be dragging at its lowest points. Also this means lots of hp and torque, very easy to spin the tires. Caution should be taken to drive gently, starting in 2nd(with manual or tiptronic) is suggested to reduce the power, and have a more steady application of force.
Indirectly this means the Z has wide tires made with a all season compound(though some think they are closer to summer tires), these are necessary for racing(or even spirited street driving), but they are unable to cut through the snow down to the pavement for traction. Therefore it is strongly suggested that the car be fitted with a set of snow tires. With these tires, the Z has shown much use in winter conditions, only helped by its advanced TCS or VDC system depending which if any your car has.
Even with snow tires, traction control, and caution. your greatest threats are still other drivers, and salt. keep these factors in mind when you venture out into the snow with your 30,000$ baby.
