Default Possibly New Owner, Got Some Questions.

Talking to a friend about getting rid of (or keeping, but we'll see) my 98 Celica and getting a Z. My buddy is trying to (and succeeding) convince me to get an 07 Z. Let me just say, "I'm a fan!"

What can I expect from an 07 Z? I hear the 07 has a better motor in it and is stronger and can take a bigger beating? I haven't test driven one yet, but I figured I'd get some of your guys' opinions and see the pros and cons from actual Z drivers/enthusiasts to see what I can expect from it.

Definitely gonna be white...

I moved up to the Z from a 2000 Celica GTS with 180 horses. If you haven't driven a Z yet, let me just say that it is a completely different experience than the Celica. I had 3 Celicas and loved everyone, but the Z is an obsession. There's no way you would be unhappy with the Z at all. I don't know much about the '07s, I have an '05, but from what I hear, they are much stronger than the older ones. I personally dig serious revs and the '07 goes to 7500.
GL with it.

The group likes noobies who who do their own homework first rather than expecting us to do it.

Read up, go drive one, & then come back with questions.

I happen to like to hear from current users that own Zs so that I could get their opinions. I've done a little research, and already like what I've seen. But as you may know, sometimes, there are things you can't find in a book. Which would be why I'm asking you: the user.

Go for it. Make sure the one you test drive is the one u want. Once u get behind the wheel U WILL most likely be driving it home. I came from a 99 prelude sh and i loved that car. I have an 04 which has a different motor but its still an amazing machine. the 07 has an even more powerful engine that revs higher. What not to love about that

Get a new one, if you can. An 08 versus a 98 is night and day difference. I sold my primo 98 Camaro for an 08 Z. If the wife does not divorce me, it wil be good! If so, I will be walking...
If you take care of your new cars and keep her at least 10 years, you will be good to go...

i've had a talon, civic, civic si hatch, crx, rsx type s....my talon was built and it was probably faster than the rsx, when it ran of course.

I just bought an 04 z.....tooooootally different experience and I love it. I don't try to get all FaSt AnD FurIoUs, but it's definitely a great driving experience every time =)

i expect the 07 to be the same and better!

Thanks guys! That actually helps a lot more than you think. I my little tuner (or lack thereof) car but it's definitely time for something new. Luckily, there was a great forum for my gen of Celica, which doesn't exactly happen very often. Can you recommend any other helpful sites?

Try GOOGLE. There are quite a few 350Z forums.

once you test drive one you will want to take it home.. make sure you research your options, prices, and find the right deal, it is a buyers market, don't overpay for it! test drive a few of them, drive an older one and a newer one to see what you prefer..

research the trim levels and make sure you get the one you want. I suggest getting at LEAST the enthusiast trim (+1 from base) http://www.*********.com/zwiki/Nissan_350Z

I bought an 04 myself.. the newer models come stock with a few more ponies under the hood and some much better stock wheels, some have mp3 jacks and what not..

Yeah I definitely like the VQ35HR as opposed to the VQ35DE? but I'm not quite sure I understand the trim options. I mean, I get that they all have different options, but damn, so many choices!

On another note, went to NISSAN yesterday and wanted to test drive an 07, with no luck. They didn't have any in stock and the dealer was trying to sell me on an 08/09 but honestly, I'm not paying 10k more. And I'll never buy 'new' in my life.
