Default simple question

i feel dumb for asking and I'm sure the information is already on this site somewhere, but I just picked up a 2004 model and there's no button to turn off the traction control system. There was nothing in the owners manual either.

Any tips on how to do this? Is there a fuse or something?

U are either blind or u have a base model. Look just above the fuel door release botton and you should see 2 buttons. If both are blank then u definitly have a base in which there is no traction control to cut off

well of course there's no button, that's why I was asking. I wish there was, it'd be easy that way haha. It's an Enthusiast model, not the Base.

If there's no button...you have a base model.

well I'll have to check it out then, I just got it and on the insurance it says Enthusiast but I'd trust you guys more.

Any recommendations for a programmer? I was thinking the Apexi, but let me know your thoughts and whether it's even worth getting one.

THe button should be one of the two slots above the gas tank lid release button.

If you don't have this... your car is a base.

Then you must have cruise buttons on the steering wheel?

well as dumb as it may sound I wasn't aware that the VDC and TCS were basically the same thing, and I do have the VDC button. so i guess that takes care of that problem.

Before you start making fun of me, remember that I'm just asking questions people. If I sound like I'm new to this it's because I am. I've raced motorcycles for the past 6 years & make my living by building them and managing a motorcycle race team. We don't have all these fancy buttons haha

If the place you bought your car from advertised and listed the car as an enthusiast on the paperwork, and it is indeed a base model, you have grounds for a refund. If you were tricked into buying a different model than what you were looking for, I say get your money back and start shopping again. Unless you got some kick *** deal.

Maybe you got cheated or the previous owner removed the button.

On an alternate note, if it is listed as an enthusiast but you have a model with VDC, then it is actually a track/performance/touring/whatever. [All more expensive than an enthusiast]

VDC includes TCS. If you have VDC your model is above the Enthusiast.

Check here to get clues on which model you have:

Dealer's can make mistakes like that. Mine was listed as an enthusiast, but it's touring.

Geberally, car dealers know diddly squat about what they are selling let alone figure out model differences with a car line, the Z, where they all look alike.

thanks for the link Brickyard, and it looks like I have the Touring due to the point that I have VDC and heated seats.
