okay let me start off by introducing myself. My name is Franklin and I just recently turned 18, as a matter of fact it was the 24th of december. any ways, I have been researching into get myself a Skyline R33 gts-t but you know it's not the easiest thing in the world.. so I am turning back to the Z. I wanted one before but for some reason lost interest so this is where you all guys come in, what do you all have to say about your cars and what would help me into getting myself more into the car. for example, give me reason why the Z is the car you all have...

To be honest with you you're not going to get an R33. I was just looking up information about it and it's damn near impossible. You would need to find a registered importer. And right now there are none. But at the age of 18 you do not need even a GTS-25T which is a much slower R33 but with a single turbo. In order to properly have a Skyline imported to the US and legally register it you'd have to wait until it is 25 years old then some rule applies that allows the car to be legally driven in the US but with minimal mileage per year. I'm located in Japan and have driven many Skylines R33 GTR, GTS, R32s etc. They're nothing special. Just another fanboy car.

But my 350Z I love it. It has some power, it handles beautifully when not being pushed. I always got attention when I was in it. The interior bits are not of Porsche quality but nor does it have the price tag. But the Z has much more potential and power than the Boxster S I was looking at. But the Z man at 18 if you get it, be smart. If that's even possible.

I'm probably similar to a lot of owners that purchased one of the earlier 350z's, it's 4 years 8 months, still love getting into the Z to go for a drive.

That in it's self doesn't tell you anything, but have a read of some of the thousands of threads here.

For the money they're a well set up car on the whole, you can now buy just about every conceivable mod you might want (in the future), and being part of the Z community is an added bonus.

I don't think anything anyone says can convince you. Go take a test drive and figure it out for yourself. All I can say is that I would never try too hard to sell myself a car; I can see it just ending in disappointment at the end of the day. Oh, and please if you do get one, don't crash it and add to the statistics!

 

You really expect a bunch of us to spend time convincing you that you should buy a Z?

Perhaps you should go do your own homework which includes using the "search" function to read up on the Z, finding a dealer & actually driving one, and pricing out a few.

well for the R33 I know many people who bring them to the us for 15k and I can legally get the car registered THROUGH state and be able to have a STATE LEGAL for an extra 2600. notice I did not say federally legal of coarse. as long as it's state registered passing emissions it is quiet easy to drive around without even getting in trouble. that includes dereg papers, title, taxes paid, tags, and plates.

The only way to "properly" buy a Skyline is to by one that was imported through MotoRex who is not around anymore. If you were able to buy an R33 for 15k then why are you posting here to get us to change your mind to buy a Z? IMO I've driven both and it's not worth it to buy an R33 over a new 350Z no matter how popular the car is.
