Default new Z owner

Hey guys i recently just purchased a 2003 Z base model. i already ordered a nismo exhaust nismo intake and the guy who i got it from already had some nice staggered rims on it. since it is the base model i was wondering if i could change out the headlights and make them HID. would i be able to just buy the headlights from the Z's with the HID package or would i have to do more than just that? thanks

Welcome!!

I'm pretty sure it's a direct swap. Obviously you need all the electronics associated with the HIDs which are located on the back of the headlight itself, so buy a complete set. Not just the shells.

Check the classifieds they come up pretty ofter, I would suggest buying the 06+ lights since they have dual beam HIDs and a bigger projector.

Its silver and the drifting Z is the one from tokyo drift and thats what i would like to make it look like but i would do it a little different. does anybody recomend anything perforamce parts besides the intake and exhaust system i got? i got the nismo cat back exhaust, and nismo intake for it. the rims came with it and the tint was just put on. i love it so far. for looks i found some blacked out altezza lights. i didnt think i would ever do that but i like them. now this is a totally different world im getting into. i am coming from a 438hp to the wheels 2000 camaro SS heavily modified obviously to a pretty much stock i mean intake and exhaust isnt much differnet. but does anybody recomend anything to do to it. it is a 2003 base model. i am going towards show car and race. I have always owned american muscle cars and for some reason i just wanted to try somthing different. i think i got a great deal for it. its a 2003 base Z with 50,000 miles and nothing wrong with it for 11,500. thanks for welcoming me into the forums guys i hope i enjoy the Z. it seems like such a great car and from what ive read it has potential.

Have a look around the forced induction subforum. Many opinions, and experiences there. Might help your choices.

With the exception of a plenum spacer, and maybe HFCs, you are gonna be throwing your money away. the reason there are sooooo many of us that are forced induction, is because this engine is pretty much tapped out from the factory. And HP:$ ratio is way better in respet to Forced Induction vice a naturaly aspirated setup.

You're starting off good though. The Nismo exhaust is a quality piece that will look and last a Loooong time, and yields some of the better gains without the rasp of other exhausts.

Same goes for your intake!
