Default Just bought a 2006 350Z, New Here!

I've been browsing this forum for awhile now and you all have helped me learn alot about the 350Z! Well, I finally broke down and bought one from CarMax. Black on black, 2006, 6spd, 23K miles, Beautiful condition.

I would really appreciate some help identifying a few things under the hood. My first question is what is the large silver/grey covering on the engine that says "Kinetix" or something? I'm very new to Nissans so please spare me...haha. I'll post engine pics a bit later.

I am a converted Jeep Wrangler driver...and very attached to my new 350Z already!

Thanks all and I look forward to contributing to this forum as I learn.

Congrats to you as well Jasa!I bought an 06' base model...I bought from Carmax due to 3 previous great experiences with them. This 350Z came into their Memphis, TN store and the day I saw it online I had it transferred because it had everything I wanted - less than 25K miles, all black in/out, and 6spd coupe...I had to go for it! It was $19,000 even + $200/month for insurance...damn! =)

I'm posting engine pics in 2 minutes...maybe you guys can let me know what some of the different parts are on the engine...I'd like to confirm if this is an aftermarket intale manifold (kinetix) or not. Thanks again!

Ok just checked the oil - it was perfectly filled by Carmax, no problems there! How often should I check this as I've only had the car for 3 days?

Now on to the Engine pics! Please take a glance and let me know if it does in fact have Kinetix intake manifold...it seems to have a black Kinetix cover on top of the engine...not sure what this is...please let me know if anything catches your eye. Thanks again fellas!

More pics:

And there was one unusual item about the car...when I opened the hood to check the oil, this thing popped out and ran away!

I love the ride so far guys...it puts a smile on my face every time I look at it. I'm 28 and work hard...this is my first car purchased compeltely by myself which makes it even better! Thanks for the comments!

Also, if the intake is stock...what is the Kinetix black/plastic cover thing? Thanks again all!

Nice Jasa! I like that color alot - that is a very clean looking Z! How do you plan to wash the car...powerwash or hand wash everytime? Also are you planning to use any particular type of fuel or oil? I've read the manual but would like some advice from experienced Z owners as well for the best maintenance plan.

It's a JWT Popcharger, not K&N: http://www.jimwolftechnology.com/cus...asp?PartID=350

Kinetix manifold: http://www.kinetixracing.com/kinetix...zg3503-06.aspx

GTSpec Dry carbon strut brace: http://www.gtspec.com/index.php?nav=...pid=239&cat=76
