Hi All,
Just thought I would drop a thread to say hi to everyone on the forum boards. Just got my Z and looking forward to all the advice the great people on this forum might be able to give me in the future.

I live near Ginza in Tokyo. Not seen too many Z's in my area. Especially not with the Nismo wheels that I got because they will fail shaken because they are a little too wide. They look great though, and just need to get the extra wide body kit before I go for shaken (government car checks) again.

So if the tires go past the fender they fail Shaken? Or is it the wheel itself?

My understanding is if any part of the tire or wheel extend past the body of the car it will fail the shaken. Autobacs for instance wont even change the tires on my car because they are approximately 2mm wider than the wheel arches. J-beuracracy!!! That being said Nismo make an extra wide body kit that adds 8mm to the body so that it would then pass shaken. However, this costs about $800 including the install cost and doesnt look that nice.

First upgrade I am thinking of is the JWT popcharger but not sure how readily available it is in Japan or how difficult it would be to install myself if I ordered it from the US?
Another thing I would like is to upgrade my brakes but seems like this is gonna be an expensive addition so needs some more thought/research before making a decision on them.

Welcome to the forum. Why don't you start with upgrading the pads and rotors and the brake fluid, before contemplating big brakes. You'll be surprised that alone how much difference it can make.

The nismo wheels are 19" running 245's on the front and 275's on the rear.
Thanks for the advice about the rotors, pads and fluid. You are the second person to say leave the Brembos for a bit and get the lines upgraded to steel, the rotors and the pads replaced. Have to say the stock rotors look VERY small with the Nismo wheels :-)

Birdy123 - Your Z looks just like mine (could be twins - SS 05 & same wheel/tire combo - except I went the cheaper Rota's)! Welcome! I have a JWT popcharger on mine and it won't be hard to install. You should be able to order from the US.

What's the fine for getting caught with an "illegal" setup?
And all this time I thought kids were cruising the streets over there with their wheels completely pushed out.
The Nismo 19's look great though, looks like you have a decent lip in the rear.

Just ordered the JWT popcharger from www. courtesyparts.com as they will deliver to Japan with no issues.
Just hope I dont mess up the install because I am about a mechanically savvy as a snail.
