I really don't understand why people think the Z costs so much to maintain!! There's nothing special about it from a maintnence stand point. It's a RWD Maxima!

The exception being if you have Brembos. But even then, are you really gonna be buying pads and rotors oftern enough that it's gonna put ya in the hurt locker?

It uses the same coolant and oil as other Nissan cars. A 5qt jug of M1 can be had from Wal-Mart for less then a coventional oil change at the dealer. The standard brakes are no big deal because it shares the same setup as other Nissan models. The only "extra" cost i could see over a FWD car is changing the rear end fluid ever once and a while. And if you do it yoruself it costs less then $20!

Some people treat this car like it's liquid gold and replace everything every season. They are the ones that feel the pain in the wallet as far as maintnence is concerned. And that's their choice, not because the car requires it.

The only exception i can see is if you go FI. And even then. As long as you do all the proper cooling/fuel/tune upgrades the only long term maintnence cost that may go up would be maybe changing your fluids a little more frequently. But even then, if you do it all yourself, it's relatively inexpensive. But on the flip side, if you are going FI you probably have a disposable income, and aren't worried about long term (200,000+ miles) reliability anyways.
