Although I’m not sure I can appreciate the beauty of the flat black look, I did recently see one that really caught my eye. It was a 911 GT2 and the matt black finish had a slight satin sheen to it. Up close it had an extra hint of uniqueness. An ever so slight deep red tint, barely noticeable. In fact it took me a few seconds to become aware it was there, but it definitely set it apart from the rattle can, flat black look the Honda kids have become so enamored with lately.
I didn’t get a chance to talk with the owner, but his wife said it was a variation of an Audi 8 series paint color called Cherry Black. The car was painted with regular high gloss paint with a flattener added to the final coat.

Not flat black...matte black. They are completely different. Flat is well just flat. and Matte has a slight shimmer to it. Satin is more shinny than matte.
I really like that idea of the Porsche you saw!! Here is the idea of the car that I like...I guess that is kinda satiny. I'm not sure but the color is actually called rally black. There was also a Z on here that I saw awhile back (when I was researching it) that I really liked....
