Default New 2008 Z Owner from Indianapolis

Hello Z family!!! After a long 6 months of looking, credit fixing, and patience, I finally picked up my Z last Thursday 4/15/10.

Silver 2008 350Z Touring 6-Speed w/5.4k miles (Cheers to low miles)

Yes I know another Silver, but I am very **** about scratches and it tends to hide them well. Dark blue or black were my first 2 options, but I knew it would drive me crazy with scratches & chips. To me, the black and blue Z's are the most beautiful, but regardless of color, I was getting a low mile Z. I must say, I absolutely love this car. My first 2 mods are coming!!! Window tint and I actually just read through some of the "New Z Owners Read First" thread, and didn't even realize that they even made clear bras. That being said, where's a good place to get the clear bra kit? I would rather sped a little extra cash and get the best brand of protection for my investment. I have an awesome camera so I will post a picture of my new baby (AKA Silver Surfer...lol)

Hi! I live up in Carmel, so i'm pretty close by. I don't know about the clear bra but I had Modified Auto Design in Castleton tint my windows at 15% and a 5% strip across the windshield, and I think they did a very good/ clean job.

3M is the 600lb gorilla of clear bra and is good stuff. There is 2nd promient company but I forget their name, I always use 3M. I'd recommend trying a local Z/Nissan/car forum here or local to get recommendation. I'm sure there are a number of quality (and not so quality) installers in Indy. A high end detailer (look for supercars and collector cars they've worked on) that's been business for a while is typically a good bet. If you can get both tint and bra done in one place, they might cut you a better deal. Get a few quotes + how much clear bra they put on (eg. 8" or 12" up the hood, front bumper, side view mirrors, wheel wells, etc.) The material is expensive so the more coverage the higher the cost. I'd estimate about 300-350 for typical clear bra (front, hood, mirrors) and another 150 for tint (unless you go with the recent high end stuff) if memory serves. 3M also a good choice on tint. Finally research your local tint laws unless you want risk getting hassled by the man and potentially replacing it because its too dark or some other violation. Enjoy your new Z!

Default WoW!!!

OMG am I retarded. So I go to the gas station and pull up my hood to check all my fluids. I'm looking at it and I see this clear surface that stops on my paint and I'm like wtf is that. To my own stupidity I suddenly realize that my car is equipped with a clear bra, hood, mirrors, and headlights. I got this in Chicago so I started to make some sense of some things. This guy had to live in the city because all four rims are somewhat gashed or torn up because of curb parking. I figured he had the clear bra kit dealer installed because of all the gravely freeways on shoulders and such. Got it from a Jeep dealership and it was traded in for a big *** jeep with a lift. So I'm thinking he got tired of f***ing up his rims and got something that it wouldn't matter in. I feel so dumb, but yet so freaking happy it's got the clear bra already. Just shows you how awesome they are, I didn't even know it was there for 7 days...lol

I had them tinted about a year ago and I think it was $150, but I also ordered the Seibon Carbon Fiber Hood at the same time so it's hard to remember.

Welcome to the boards! Congrats on the purchase.

Silver makes up something like 40-50% of the Z's sold, but that doesn't mean its a bad looking car.
