Default What oil did the previous owner(s) put in your car?

I just got my 350Z a few weeks back.
I need to do an oil change but don't know which oil the previous owner put.
its a 2004 with 45000 miles on it.

Should I just start putting mobile 1?
or would that be better for me to find out which kind has been used in the past?

It is generally thought that if the car had synthetic in it you should stay with synthetic. But I have not seen any studies that prove that. You won't go wrong with a synthetic though - about a bazillion threads on the subject so do a Search under Oil

Welcome. Select a motor oil meeting the specs in your owners manual. You will be fine.

I tried the Castrol Edge and the car went through the oil like water through a sieve. Went through a quart in a couple thousand miles. Switched back to Mobil 1 and had no problem at all.

Put oil in car. Check it 3 weeks or so and go from there. If you want to go synthetic go for it if not stay conventional oil. I prefer synthetic on mine and go extended drain intervals (one per week). Works for me but not necessary for u to follow. Go with the recommended oil type in the manual.
