Default Newest Z owner

Hey all, nice forum and can't wait to learn more about the car. Been a long time fan of the Z and decided to pick one up yesterday.

I came from a 03 tiburon gt with small modifications intake, headers, exhaust, rims, tires, strut bar, sway bars etc. It was fun...but the Z is a blast.

Last week decided I had enough with the tiburon, decided to sell it. The entire week I'm looking at a bunch of cars 300ZX, 350Z, G35, s2k, evo, sti, s4...couldn't really make up my mind on what I wanted but I know I wanted something that still had decent mileage.

Friday, looked online, and saw what I needed to have. (sry shitty cell phone pic)

2003 Nissan 350Z Performance Edition 6spd m/t....with get this...only 5000 miles

I was skeptical about the mileage but checked autocheck AND carfax, both came back clean. The dealer also signed a contract stating that it is the actual mileage and they are not and have not done any kind've cheating. Carfax came back as a corporate lease so I'm assuming whoever owned it only took it out to impress clients? There wasn't even a rock chip on the front bumper.

Took it for a test drive saturday, came right back to the dealer and put my down payment on it. Tuesday picked it up and am having a blast with it already.

Right now I keep telling myself I'm going to keep it as close to stock as possible, but I know the mod bug will hit hard. I already plan on replacing the stereo with a double din unit so I plan on searching this forum for pics and reviews but if anybody has any suggestions feel free to post em.

i would probably change the oil and other fluid stuff like that... the 5k miles on a 7 year old car is a steal, but since you got it from a dealer who knows how long the oil and other fluids have been sitting in there?

congrats either way

Yeah I planned on doing that this weekend, the dealer said they had it for a month but with how long this thing just sat around I definitely decided the first thing I need to do is an oil/fluid change. And thanks!

Also plan on putting a few coats of fresh wax and giving it a little exterior detail.

Congrats on the purchase. What color is that? It is possible the camera is distorting the color, but that doesn't look like a stock color.

Welcome!

Great find with the unbelievable mileage. As for a double-din head unit, I got a Pioneer AVH-P4100DVD. I'm quite happy with it. It's last year's model but is still available. But the new units "4200" from Pioneer look to be even better. There's lots of Z's with my deck, so just Google "350z AVH-P4100DVD" and you should get some pics.

Yeah the avh-xxxxDVD is one of the models (the 4200 all the way down to 3100) I was looking at, I just want to make sure I get one that will match my interior lights which I think you can choose what color you want with this one...is that right or am i way off?

Thanks, I got it for 19,500 out the door. Right around blue book value.

Yikes. Oh well, you're happy with it and that's all that matters. Don't look back and get to modding holmes.

Haha yeah I know it seems like a lot cause it's 7 years old but year doesn't mean much at all compared to mileage. According to KBB most 03's should be right around 100k miles.

Don't know if this link will work but this is the KBB value
http://www.kbb.com/used-cars/nissan/...t&mileage=5206

If it doesn't work, the value is 18,810

But yeah, can't wait to start modding it but just plan on doing small things for now. I don't have the room for all the stock parts to sit around anymore. With my old car I had the stock wheels/tires sitting in my bedroom.....needless to say the ladies loved it

So far my list is looking like this:
Headunit (double din/pioneer avh-p4200dvd is winning right now)
Speakers (nothing crazy just replace the stock ones with something better, don't want a box or anything - still have to research more about this)
Tint (Probably around 35%, I want to see what some other orange cars with tint look like first)
put blizzaks on the stock rims for winter time.

Not sure if I want anything performance YET, I have a sports bike so I can get my crazy fast speed fix from that.

That's one of the reasons I got it. The "Amber" backgrounds match the interior (and exterior of my orange Z) and you can change the back-lighting of the physical buttons to match perfectly. The pre-set amber is close, but clicking "-" about 3 times sets them to match the dash lights exactly.

I'll snap some pics tonight to show you, since I couldn't find any good images of the unit lit up.

Yeah if you could take some pics that would definitely be awesome, I think I'm going to put in an order for it next week if all goes as planned.

I'm not a huge audiophile by any means, I actually never even messed with sound stuff before...but the stock (non-bose) system is kind've weak...especially up front.

If I had a beater I would baby it more and drive it on the weekends (still thinking about getting a beater for the winter months), but as of now it's at least 50 miles a day with me getting to and from work.

As far as driving it hard I'm taking it slow until I can get the oil changed and just do a more routine check up.
