hey guys i just picked up my 03' super black 350z ive owned it for about 2 weeks now and i noticed that when shifting into 3rd sometimes it grinds wondering if its normal ive heard that the syncros are bad in the 03-04 mt trannys. also could it be that i need a new clutch, doesnt slip by the way but catches pretty high. any feed back would be awesome

also the car has just hit 72k miles on it incase anyone was wondering

3rd gear grinds all the time or just "fast shifting"? It probably IS your synchros. Good luck!

welcome! i've never had any grinding issues with mine. with 72k i would just change it already just to be safe

 

Welcome. You have the common 03 grind. The fix is easy, you just need to replace the transmission with a CD009 from an 06. You'll also need a new clutch since the 03-05 disc won't work on the revised 06 trans, so you'll be killing two birds with one stone.

1) arc shift ****
2) hks true dual exhaust or amuse exhaust if i can find one
3) Tein coilovers prob super streets
4) sell the 20in axis wheels and pick up a set of proper 19in ce28n's in gold
5)pair of bride vorgas in either red or gradiation black
6) 06+ cf oem type hood cuz i love the buldge look on the z's
theres prob a butt load more that i want but thats all i can think of for now lol
