Default Picked up my Z August 1st

I picked up a Pikes Peak White Perl '08 350z Base with 25k miles for $17k.
Only mods are tint, test pipes, & true dual catback Greddy exhaust, by
previous owner. I <3 my car! Will post pics when I have time to clean it.
I am looking for a new job and an apartment and considering moving states,
sooo.... priorities.

My concerns at the moment are

- Winter
Winterize, or buy a winter car?
What can be done to winterize?

*EDIT I'M JUST SAYING I WANT IT*
- Stereo
OMG NEEED.... Been looking at focal speakers and subs

- I don't have a ton of money
Trying to resist spending frivolously

I'm looking for a winter car if anyone is selling? Prefer not to drive my Z.
Suggestions on winter car? I just bought the Z so I'm car poor, Stick to ~2000-5000,
5 is high. It only has to last one winter then I sell. This is a Wisconsin winter with
plenty or road salt so I don't want to rust out my baby.

If I do drive the Z in the winter I'm thinking about installing LSD, New Brakes,
and some Blizzak LM-60s? (part suggestions, along with links to read up). From
what I have read it seams that TCS & VDC are not that great anyway. I don't have
those as my car is a Base trim. Any other Recommendations for making my car ready
for winter. My other thought was to run away to Texas for winter

Is LSD helpful (more than just a little) to keep from slipping in the snow?
*edit*
Useful or unuseful in snow? I thought it would let me transfer power to the
appropriate wheels ala positrac, but maybe I needed VDC to limit power to slipping
wheels.
*edit*

*edit* LSD is somthing I want for fun in the sun anyway *edit*

Is it easier or harder to, INTENTIONALLY, kick out the back end with stock diff
or a quality LSD. The recreational racing I would be interested in pursuing would
be rally, drift, or curvy tracks, I'm not interested in a quarter mile car.
I'm interested in a car that can lose you in real world situations.

Sorry if I'm scatter brained I have been reading up on driving techniques, stereo
wiring, winter tires, tcs, vdc, speakers, installations, all sorts of stuff for
three days and my brain is fried & tapped.

Let me get this straight. You've had the Z since August 1st,you have not had time to clean it...you are looking for a job/got some spare time,me thinks?
Changing out your speakers/subs?is near the top of your list.
Maybe you should have given more thought on the kinda car you NEED before you bought a Z?
Good luck this winter.

Default Now for considerate useful people :)

Okay back on topic, opinions and advice I asked for....

WINTER CAR

- Anyone, in or near Wisconsin, want to sell me a winter car?

OR SHOULD I WINTERIZE THE Z?

- LSD useful in winter or not?

- LSD makes and recommendations

- Reading material on different LSDs ,applications, pros/cons, etc...

- Information on installation

- Recommendations for winter tires

OTHER NOTES

For people who think I have not put a lot of thought into this, you
are uninformed and rude.

I planed I driving the Z in the winter and budgeted to install LSD
and new winter tires. Now that I look at how much I am spending I
figure less one LSD is worth the saving the rust. It's enough to buy
a winter car.

*edit, to remove "Crying by the OP"...*

JCITY I would appreciate it if you would just edit your post remove
it's contents and move on to a different thread.

I'd recommend picking up a winter beater. You can definitely find something safe and reliable within the price range you outlined. And since you plan on selling it after winter, you should be able to make some, if not most, of your money back. Then you can upgrade your stereo.

Like you said, the car is your baby. No point in driving through all the snow and salt. And you're looking at an LSD, winter tires, possibly winter rims, and rust proof as well as routine car washes to get the salt off. It's just not worth the trouble and in all honestly, it will still not handle all that well in snow being RWD.

Lots of crying by the OP.

Dude, it won't take THAT long to clean the car up, it is an 08 with 25k miles on it, how trashed can it be?

That said, definitely look for a winter beater, even if you can handle the Z in the snow, it isn't worth all the salt damage that will happen. Good luck.
