What can i get?
If
So i was thinking about getting a 350Z
was the same as buying a 350Z everyone would have one. About 1 in 20 new members ever gets a 350Z. Unfortunately you are in the 19 out of 20 wannabe crowd. The RSX is just too difficult to pass up.

To clear any misunderstandings. I'm not spoiled , I've got a job as soon as I was able and ever since I've been working hard while at the beginning earning minimal wage. I understand and appreciate money. Now my mom acknowledged my passion for cars, and so she gave me a large budget for a car to make me happy and learn more. I am very luck to get such a large amount for a starter car. Now with that set aside I actually don't know why this post is under this sub-forum. If a moderator wishes they may move it to a more appropriate sub-forum. Thank you all for your input regardless of whether it was information or not. I can afford to upkeep this car as well as pay for gas and insurance. My question is if I get a Z with 90k+ mile on it, will it still be reliable?

If my mom gave me money like that, I'd invest in an IRA, let it accrue interest and increase my cash flow. **** a car. In today's still somewhat crappy economy, you never know what could happen and you may find yourself in a bind where you may need that money you saved up for a rainy day. Think about it.

Lol this is 2012, $10k can't buy you anything more than a beater anyway. You can't even get a beat up Prius for that.
An 03' Z with 90k is a beater, sorry but it is. The only thing than can offset that is mods, etc. OP is doing it right.

take the 10k buy a civic or another beater and put the rest on a cd, the cd will be matured in 5 yrs when your done/almost done w/ college and you will have earned a little bit of interest while keeping the money safe/unspendable

OP, you don't sound like you can afford to blow all of your money on a high mileage Z and then be able to afford the repairs and upkeep
This. This is pretty much what I did. Parents got me a car when I was 18. I drove it all throughout college and until I got a good salaried full time job, then I sold my old car and used it's resale value as down payment, which was 10k. Financed the rest on my 07 Z. Works great too for building credit as you'll need it later on in life if you want to buy a home. But honestly, the Z is expensive. Mods, gas, picking up hookers and everything. If you don't got disposable income, you won't be able to afford to do anything fun or get nice mods. You'll become a typical ricer w/ knock off parts and a fart can replica exhaust. (:

and I've been thru what OP is going thru. He's just lucky he's handed 10k now instead of getting it 6 years later.
