Fancy Aerocatch hood pins, and a lot of fingerprints. Removing the factory hood latch mechanism and hardware saves about 5 lbs or so.

Mesh grille painted and installed, along with the heavier than I would like tow hook.

Some of the stickers. +10 HP each.

I have also test fit the side skirt that I repaired. It will work, and my hack paint job is close enough to pass for matching on a track car (no pics yet). Tonight's project is rough cutting and painting the rear poycarbonate window, and finishing the paint on the side skirts.

I had the DXD Clutch and flywheel kit installed yesterday. I didn't get the weights, but I'd guess it's about 10 lbs lighter than stock, and a whole lot stronger.

Do you have an ad on CL for interior pieces? I'm interested in a few if you have them, and the stock rims/tires.

Should be an awesome build, would love to see it in person.

I do not, I bought the car with the cage already in it and the interior removed. I'll send a PM with contact info of where the car is, if you have specific stuff that you're looking for, they may have it with other SCCA race car builds they have done.

No, but I can put one here

Chassis/bodywork:
Full custom welded roll cage built to 2005 Grand-Am Cup rules
Interior completely gutted with the exception of original dash and dash pad
Factory doors gutted, and interior panels cut to fit NASCAR-style door bars
custom front splitter - factory underbody trays removed
Grand-Am spec carbon fiber front bumper cover
Grand-Am spec carbon fiber side skirts
Aerocatch hood pins
Seibon rear carbon fiber deck lid
Custom polycarbonate rear deck window
Competition Performance Products G-Stream 800 rear wing (not yet installed)
Go-Pro HD camera (not yet installed, there will be vids when the car is on the track)
Kirkey race seat
Willans 6-point harnesses
As much weight removal as I can get away with

Drivetrain:
DE engine with HR heads
Stillen cold air intake (not yet installed)
Z1 Performance cat delete pipes
Custom exhaust with high flow muffler
DXD/South Bend Clutch Flywheel/clutch package
Custom tuned ECU for this engine configuration designed to work on 98 octane race fuel
Solid motor mounts
Antigravity 16-cell battery

Suspension/Brakes/Wheels:
SCCA T2 spec springs with Koni shocks revalved by TC Kline for T2...for now
SPC front camber/caster adjustable A-Arms
SPC rear camber arms
Custom monoball rear toe arms
18x10.5 Enkei RPF1 ET 15 wheels with Hoosier A6 285/30 18 tires (dry setup)
Stock wheels with Hoosier Wet 245/45 18 (wet setup)
Performance Friction pads, 01 front, 97 rear
Braided stainless steel brake lines

There's still a bunch of stuff I'd like to do to the car (steering wheel, Z1 pulley kit, Penske shocks, Hyperco springs, and the list goes on...), but I consider this a good start, especially as the car will be on the track in 8 days.

More pics, and I ran the car Sat-Sun at NHMS and yesterday at Lime Rock. The big goofy wing didn't make it on the car

First version of brake duct routing. I changed it slightly, but it's basically the same.

...because I added real brake duct inlets to the front

Final installtion of the front splitter. In the second session, the main load bearing mounts pulled through the radiator core support that I had it mounted to. The splitter itself is fine, but I need to figure out a better way to mount it.

and the car in the paddock at LRP yesterday

My fastest lap at NHMS (chicaine/Chicaine config) was a 1:22.0, and it was my last dry lap, and I hit traffic. Not great, but not terrible. I figure I was running mid-1:02's at Lime Rock, and there's still a lot left in my driving in a couple of places. Also, the top of the uphill is a real thing that needs to be dealt with in this car, rather than just something that's there that you don't have to do much about.

I think the big problem is that the shocks that I have on the car now have far too stiff rebound damping, and it was picking up the rear wheels more than it should have, and carrying too much throttle over the top would have the back end kick left when that happened (think right-hand rule of torque from intro physics for reasoning). It definitely got my attention with the car going from straight to a mild back end wiggle with the car going in a straight line.

...and now with video, and excuses

This was from the second session Sunday morning at NHMS. I was on Hoosier wets, and it was drying out enough where it was too dry for the wets on the back part of the track. That's why later in the session I'm going to the middle of the front straight, to find water to cool the tires because I was overheating them. It was also too wet for dry tires. Basically, the conditions were pretty terrible no matter what tires you were on. To give you how bad, note all the other cars that you see out on track with me.

I'm in the process of making a plywood splitter as well. I see you have those two large fasteners on the bottom but, will you be adding support rods out front? What thickness is that plywood?

Mere fact that you're making excuses, means you're aiming to improve and get faster and faster.
