New found love '03 350z
Hey there guys, the name is Justin! New to the forums here, and hopefully it'll be a great experience! Just recently got a 350z on Wednesday and loving every minute of it. Traded in my AE86 with a bit of cash on top(2800 to be exact)! It was hard saying goodbye to the 86 though, but after it was gone from my rear-view mirrors, I instantly fell in love with this car.
It's a 2003 Touring Edition. Has quite a bit of clicks on it (256k). Never been winter driven and all highway mileage! The thing is, I'm going to need a car for work, so this will be my first winter with it(I'm probably going be yelled for this by the 350z gods, but desperate times call for desperate measures!). To prepare myself for this winter, I'm planning to rust-proof the underbody so that it can be kept prestine from salt and and dirt. I'll be purchasing a set of winter tires this week.
There's not that many mods on this car. Just the little things. K&N CAI and a Nismo S-Tune exhaust. Has a GREAT sound to it when revved. Not really a fan of the yellow seats, but beggars can't be choosers! I don't plan on changing the rims or anything. Liking the stock feel. Who knows though, maybe down the line I'll start getting body kits and a wing! Hahah I can only dream!
Some issues with the car are the driver side power window is not working. I heard the motors are the culprit, so I'm planning to get a new one soon. Also, the reverse lights aren't working. The previous owner said that it was a switch, but I'll try changing the light bulbs first to see if that fixes the issue, and if not, then the reverse light switch. How hard is it to replace the motor for the window? I have little to moderate knowledge on how to fix things on a car lol(I've done a swap on my AE86 but those things are ancient!).
Other than those issues, everything is working fine! No grindings of the tranny, no weird noises being heard in the cabin. The driver side window is cracked open a bit(just a small bit!) which sucks because water will definitely get in there if I don't get the motor soon.
More pics to be posted! Just wanted to give a little run-down on the car. Any help from you guys would be greatly appreciated!
PEACE!
PS those plates aren't mine. They were the previous owners. He doesn't have them anymore.

Welcome, I have the same color combo, love my burnt orange seats. That's a whole lot of miles. Glad to hear it's still running well.
You can rebuild the window motor rather easily and cheaply. Search here there's a thread about it.
I ran spacers on my stock touring wheels for a bit till I got after market wheels. 20/25mm looks great!
Welcome and remember search is your friend here.

I think the OP,being from Canada, may be talking kilometers not miles on the car's
clock.In miles that'd be around 160k.Which is still a lot.But,sure is better than 256k!
You have a great color combo,Silverstone&burnt orange seats.
Sound like you have some minor fixes.
Enoy your Z.

Hahah I'll post some pics later I guess. Basically, 1984 Toyota Corolla SR5. 5-speed lol. I did a 20v swap which I got imported from Japan and hoarded the parts needed to make the car run. Took me a few months to swap everything out. It got complicated at times, but with time, it was my daily driver (: never really went to track with it. Had an OBX exhaust, Vibrant headers and a test pipe for pure straight flow. The girlfriend totally got annoyed by how loud it sounded in the cabin but I loved the deep raspy sound if the exhaust.
Welcome to the forum. Given the 200k mile thread, it should have a lot of life left in it, if you take good care.
Just cleaning the bushes will probably help, unless the window motor is stuffed.

why anyone would ever start out with a car w mileage like that eludes me fully.
Id never buy a car over 60.. and even then, itd have to be a cheapy throw away car kind of deal.. enjoy your imminent repairs i guess.. but congrats?
but yes certainly..do enjoy the forum and welcome.

Ehhhh, to be honest, mileage doesn't really bother me as long as it does its part. To each their own, I guess. I've driven the 86 which had more than 300k+ kilometers and that thing was still running like a champ! I don't see the z quitting on me anytime soon. If it was properly well-maintained, any car can last for a long time!
And a non raced non.fi car w perfect maint and oil changes can lose an engine at 99k due to a bearing also.. just sayin
.ppl say z's are tuff... I don't believe it..see above scenario

If that car had a good maintenance history and you're on top of your game with it, it'll last many more miles. Sure there's a bad engine in every crop, but it's not typical. If it lasted you that many miles, I'm sure it's good to go for many more.
By the way, it looks to be in really good condition considering the mileage too!
