There will always be the manual vs auto argument but just test drive both and see which one suits you the best

Get the auto. You are the one who has to drive it.

I have an auto and it's awsome for everyday driving in traffic, and it's fun to cruise around at night

I think a car that's meant to be driven spiritedly should not have a torque converter. The driver should have ultimate control of the car, in this case, when and how the car shifts. Even in manual mode, most autos with an automatic mode shifts at redline.

So just because it has a torque converter it cant be driven spiritedly?

The Z's auto tranny doesnt. I still have control of my car, thats the only argument manual guys have over auto guys. If i get a valve body job, it would be the same as you putting a performance clutch and flywheel on your car. There is no significant difference.

Its just funny how the manual guys never have any good reasons for auto vs manual. Its always some opinion with no basis of fact. OP, drive both cars, see how they run. The Z has had more problems with its manual tranny, than with its auto.

It's even funnier when guys who have automatics and just joined the site have some great insight. Do you see any automatic (with torque converters) Formula 1 cars? Do you even know how an automatic transmission works? What's the difference between a clutch and a torque converter? What drives them?

The main reason "manual guys" like a clutch is because a manual transmission facilitates less horespower loss at the wheels. Oh, the car also doesn't shift when we don't want it to. You can do as much "spirited driving" as you want in your auto Z, but it's not any different than my "spirited driving" in my wife's AWD Juke.

Agreed. And given there's only 3 of us on this thread that know what NZ roads are like too.

As I said to you on the Kiwi forums, if you're thinking about doing any track time or motorsports in the future, I'd go manual, much easier to deal with on the track. Auto has less problems than the manual boxes do though.

Bide your time there's plenty of 350's around, and they've really come down in price. Find one that fits all of your requirements.

The best one around over here at the moment has to be that LMS in Tauranga, but they want more clams than you've indicated. Only 3-4k kilometres on the odometre should still be pristine. Although has obviously spent a lot of time just sitting over the last 10 years.
