Default first car first Z!

Hi everyone,

Just graduated college, just got my first job and just got my first Z. I got it off Craigslist, its an 06 Interlagos Fire Enthusiast 6MT w/ 66k and the revup engine. Previous owner was kind of a douche, didnt knock down the price for new tires even though he had a plug in 1, tread was extremely low and only 3 were from the same set. We couldn't get on the same page for picking the car up (I think he was clearing a check engine light and stalling) so it took a couple weeks to get and I had to drive him home once I got it with nearly no fuel. But otherwise he took good care of the car.

Had it for 2 months now with only a couple of issues. Its been idling high to the point where the check engine light came on but after a couple of resets it hasn't come back in a month, in fact its been idling too low (around 400-500 w/o the ac on). Clutch pedal would stick after a while in the Virginia heat so I changed the fluid and that seems to have cured it. And now im pretty sure the drivers side window motor is crapping out so I will need to deal with that soon. Wheels are dinged up but new ones are outta the price range right now. Front bumper and side skirts have a lot of dings so eventually I'd like to replace those but the rest of the paint on the car looks awesome, love the color changes.

I haven't done anything major to the Z, got a Nismo CF shift **** and replaced the antennae with an 08 Avengers. Cleaned the CAI, changed the oil, waxed it and I constantly wash it. Love the sound of the Motordyne Shockwave exhaust w/ ART pipes so that will probably be the first bolt-on once I get some cash. The cheapness of the interior is showing so i'd like to vinyl wrap it eventually. Really excited to meet everybody and if anyone is from the northern Virginia/ D.C. area i'd like to go to some meets if you know of any.

Welcome. When I first got my Z the clutch would stick 1/2 way when I was driving it. However, I later realized it was my driving-I was riding the clutch too long. After I adjusted to the car it's been fine. The idle thing is normal-I believe. Mine idles under 1000 for sure, but not sure how much under.....

I would be a little concerned about the CEL coming on even if you did "clear it". did it give you any codes or how did you clear the CEL?

Sounds like you have good taste with looking into the Motordyne goodies..... Better pinch pennies if you're going full exhaust from them. ART pipes are $500+ alone.

Welcome to the board, enjoy responsibly.

Thanks for welcomes! I'm still getting used to the clutch point being high and yea I can feel myself riding it a bit too long sometimes. But the fluid itself was real dark and probably needed replacing anyway. As for the CEL, I don't remember the exact code but it was for the idle revs being too high. When I was living in Illinois I did the idle relearn, CEL cleared, day or two later it would idle high again and the CEL came back on. This happened about 4 er 5 times. After I moved to Virginia the CEL came back on, I did the idle relearn and the idle revs have been real real low but no CEL in over a month.

That's odd. Maybe a MAF sensor issue? Codes would help :P

I had 1/2 a tank. Went through an entire tank of gas the first night of ownership. Man, that was fun wasting.
