Back from deployment, upgraded from a S14 to a Z33
Hey MY350z, feels amazing to be back in the states. For the past 8 months I've been living like a sardine aboard a navy vessel. (And between us, being a Marine on a ship is more of a rivalry than muscle vs import.)
I used to have a S14 with a S14 Blacktop SR. I will forever miss that car, it was fun to drive. Unfortunately, as any other 240sx owner can tell you, it is very hard to find one in good shape and that hasn't been molested to death. As was the case with this ride. There were a lot of cosmetic and electrical problems and my marriage to the car ended in a wreck on Ortega highway. To those unfamiliar, it is a road with a lot of curves through a mountain pass. It's very fun even at cruising speeds, but having a mountain on one side and a dropoff on the other, it can be dangerous if you try to push it too hard. However, if you are near San Clemente, CA, I do encourage a nice sunday cruise because there is a lookout point that oversees Lake Elsnore thats beautiful.
On to current affairs.
With my old car still in mind, I wanted to choose something that was rwd and had modern luxuries. Y'know, like cold a/c. I had it narrowed down to either a S2k and a Z. I Had been struggling to load the internet on ship, but even waiting 10 minutes to load a single page I still tried to research and car shop for when I got back. When I did return, i found a deal I had to see in person. The specs can be seen on my profile.
I was a little skeptical at first because I knew the Z was a little heavier than my S14 and I didn't know how it would handle. But with more modern interior, I was willing to accept a slight decrease in nimbleness. And when I test drove a 2k5, I fell in love. Traction control is a welcomed feature as is the upgraded meat in the back. With the extra goodies that came on the car, I was sold. So, of courseI had to hop on the forums, introduce myself and hope to dig through all the pages and learn as much as I can about my new favorite car.
Nice to meet you MY350Z!

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your purchase. I myself came from having two S14's and like yourself found they were becoming rarer and those that were around were in a god-awful state, not looked after, bits missing and thrashed to within an inch of their life so I decided to go for a 350Z and have never looked back.
