Red face Making dreams come true

Hey y'all, just picked up my first Z, 04 Coupe. Been in love with these cars going way back. Excited to make the transition from an all car audio background, to building an all around show car. Used to compete in MECA SPL with a 97 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It was a funny sight all decked out in LEDs with a bone stock motor. But those days are gone... I have a ton to learn about the entire performance side of things, now that I have a car thats made for it.

So my first lesson was today, don't let people drive your car. I took title yesterday (Friday) after work (4pm) drove it home to my house, went to work this morning and everything was fine. Then my popz wanted to see what I got so stopped over on the way home... around 4pm, well he of course wanted to drive it...(having no experience whatsoever with a 6 speed or tuner car in general, mostly drove some old pick-ups, or his Harley. Well after about 10 mins, really trying to drive it home that hes gotta take it easy, and to be careful... Ya, waste of breath. He managed to smoke the clutch in less the a mile. Granted it was maybe 70% worn out or so already. He burned through 3-4-5 with revs above 4000 and missing each engagement. (learning terms, don't know if i described that right. But regardless we wind up going up a hill while hes in 5th gear at 40mph where he then slams his foot down on the gas and she was done then, it was hard to breath with the clutch smell just intoxicating.. so no one is allowed to drive it now, and my buddy swapping out the clutch and upgrading a bit. So all in all a great excuse to do the first bit of performance work. Oh well what happened, but figured its a funny story at least.

Stoked to have found this site, look forward to the coming days.

Welcome to the forum and congratz on your purchase. It looks like it has a few carbon extra's what with the hood and the door mirrors. It looks like its been pretty well looked after. I hope it gives you many thousands of miles of smiles.
