Ck_32 Build Thread: Back in the Nissan family
Well im back in the Nissan fam bam. Picked up a Z from my local salvage auctions last weekend.
Cars is a '05 6spd and has 50k miles. Brembo and NAV package. Hopefully it keeps me busy for a while. Bring back some memories of my '89 S13 I had back in 08.

Well my original plan was to buy this as donor parts to supply my track/weekend warrior build. Which is a FR version of an Ariel Atom. Get back into track days and auto x events again. For under or around $10k - $15k.
A few of my buddies have a couple '15 z06's, M3, 4 door v8 jags and a few other fun little toys they track every couple months. So I figured Id go to the cheap, light and raw approach to keep up.
Basically buy it, store it on a lot. Take what go parts I need and then part the rest. But due to recent changes in my storage lots policy, and the fact this car is in emaculate condition to say the least. I kind of feel like I'd be doing this car/350z's a disservice by dismantling it.
I'm just on the fence and debating weather or not I should fix this thing up with a front end and just enjoy it as is for a little while. Or continue with my original plans and start mocking up the chassis and get to gutting and parting it.
Originally my build plans were for a s2k donor. But this Z kind of fell into my lap and now that I have it. Seems like the better choice actually. Much more potential IMO.

A few of my buddies have a '15 z01, 4 door v8 jag and a few other quick little toys they track every couple months. So I'm going to need something light and raw to keep up.

I took some auto/auto body courses back in college and worked in a couple shops a while back. My roommate/cousin is a fab tech for a VW custom and racing shop down the street. So he was on board to head the fabbing of the tube chassis. While I worried about the body work and mechanical side of the donor car.
Finally came up on this Z and am just trying to see where we're headed. Again still juggling weather I should just fix up the front end a bit. Or just dive right into it.

Yea this has been on my project table for quite sometime. Ever since I sold off my sport bikes and project cars, and now am just left with my girlfriends accord and my Silverado. Figured now would be the best time if any to get this going.

All in time haha
Like I said my storage lot just last week as soon as I bought the car by chance, just happened to change their storage policy on vehicle storage and working on them in their lot. They are also repaving the entire lot so every things gatta go.
So right now I have to find a new storage lot for this in the next coming weeks. Then once I get that sorted and a place to put this I can start sourcing the materials and get to measurements and build sheets. Then tac it all together and go from there.
Still in the air for now. I have some helmets left over from my sport bikes, that my passengers and I can use at first. Then once we get it rolling. I'll see if I want to go the windscreen rout. Or just run helmets. Keep the open environment sensation going. But wearing lids all the time does get old after a while. Especially for the females with their hair and earrings.
But If I do go windscreen I'll have to test and develop either those little glass panels ariel uses. Which I heard are junk as far as wind screens go. Or go larger and work out a well flowing aero friendly design.
Obviously there is still a lot to work out at this point. I see a lot of trial and error to be had. Our main focus like I said is to find a new lot to store it for now. Then focus on making a solid ridged chassis.
Like I said most of my original plans and base measurements were off the s2k. So we have to go back and touch it up and start working around the Z and its measurements and weight distributions.

Alright so I got to removing most of the cancer out of it. Removed the bent and busted brackets, rad, rad fans and got it mobile at least.
This was before I started to rid the cancer. Rad/fans and fiber glass debris was wrapped and rubbing against the belts and pullies. Basically un-drivable.
What it looks like for the mean time. Waiting on the new rad to come in. Debating weather or not I can salvage some mounts and the fan assembly. Fans and motors are solid. Plastic unit is cracked on it.
Made a quick ghetto air box for the mean time so I can keep crap out of the throttle body. So I can at least move it out of this lot and move it around.
Belts gatta go and be replaced. That's for sure. Dry rotted and frayed to sh**.
Oil is pretty dingy, obviously will need new coolant for the new rad.. Just waiting for this stupid weather to pass and actually let me start to get into it.
Most expensive thing is going to be the stupid head lights. But since I'm probably just going to do the chassis kit and new light units. I don't even know if its worth the time and $$ to pick a new set up. Same with the front core support. Unless I can pick some up on the super cheap.
Not gatta lie, part of me is happy its just basic stuff. But the other half of me is kind of bummed most of the work/repair is basically done already

Just did the oil change.
Nice little yard sale
I don't think I've ever owned a car so low from the factory..... Pain in the a$$ to find a jack spot.
Before the oil change my oil was a qt low. Was at 40PSI when I first turned it over as a test to see if it holds idle.
5 fresh qts of pens premium synthetic. Started it up and once it warmed up revved it to 4k RPM. The pressure is 40PSI, then jumps to 80 PSI per RPM... This normal? I don't remember any of that in auto shop... Or on my other cars I've had...
Something f***ked up? Or is this normal for a Z?
