New Owner of 2005 Nissan 350Z 5AT Touring
Hi! I am a new owner of 2005 Nissan 350Z 5AT Touring edition and I am still in the process of familiarizing my new car. This car is pretty boned stock no mods yet. A friend of mine who have a 2003 350z said that I want to modify this car it will shorten its life(engine). This is driven only in the weekend and the only thing that I want buy for it is a new set of tires and a new set of brake rotors, most probably the drilled aftermarket rotors. The only repairs that I've made was to replaced the rear calipers because the guide pins are stucked due to rust and dirt. BTW I myself are doing all the repairs and maintenance for this car. Because of the caliper replacement, the next day the TPMS light went on and I check the tire pressure they are all fine and within the spec's. I drove for about 50 miles and suddenly the TPMS light went off. Yeah I agree that this car is really fun to drive but it sucks a lot of fuel(GAS). So right now still in the stage where I have to learn the all the fluid capacities and viscosity, the oil, brake fluid, ATF, diff Fluid, coolant etc...In the summer I plan to change the spark plugs, replace the ATF and AT filter.

Buying a new set of brake rotors and tires is hardly modifying anything. So don't worry about your friend's advice. One or more of your TPMS units may have failed and many tire stores have readers that can tell you which ones. As for changing the fluids, there are plenty of DIY threads on here to educate yourself with.

Yeah I understands He mean modifying the engine, like adding turbo, Cold Air Intake, Headers, loud and catback exaust system, plenum spacers, throttle body spacers all sorts of things, I might agree with him because this car was engineered to have a 287 BHP at 6500 RPM and putting it beyond it's limits will eventually ruin and and shortened the engine life. Well of course if you plan to race and drift the car you will probably need to modify the engine, reflash/remapped the ECU, buy a an aftermarket rear differential with a higher ratio. But for just a daily driver from point A to B a stock engine is good enough. It's just my opinion. BTW my car is only 84,966 miles.
