Aloha from Kauai
Aloha everyone! I just picked up a very rough 2004 convertible here on Kauai. It's pretty funny because there was already a thread about this car started by another noob; but I didn't see it until this morning. Car stuff here on Kauai is pretty crazy. The environment EATS all things mechanical here. It's not rust so much as other corrosion to stuff like cast aluminum. There's very limited choices for buying sports cars and there's only one place that will even touch a BMW Benz Porsche etc, so getting a Japanese car makes service issues much easier. We already have a 2016 Nissan Frontier so the dealer is already someone I know.
Previously I've owned a bunch of motorcycles that I've worked on and my other main ride is a 1964 Volvo 1800. For that car the guys at Petrolicious came out and made a nice video about me and my car. It's here:
That'll let you get a bit of insight into driving a sports car on a small island.
Look forward to listening and learning a lot here as I get this bad boy looking and running well.
