Default Advice on asking price

Been looking for a good condition, unmodified 350Z for months. There's a local seller with a 2003 Performance coupe, 66K miles, silver, manual, always garaged. Looks to be in excellent condition, but he's asking $9500 on a $8000 KBB. I get it's in great condition, but I have a hard time with a $1.5K bump, and he seems pretty insistent on that price. Any advice on this? What would be a fair price for both parties?

Pick up a 2004 man, 2003's have some known headaches. Headlights that fade yellow, ecu that you can't flash, a hatch door that develops holes in the paint from the sprung dampers, and more I'm sure.

Sorry to not answer your question I'd pass

Come on Yosip!!!! some, some 2003 have issues ... my 2003 has been awesome ... My headlights are clear (granted the car is garage kept and stays out of the sun), I've reflashed my ecu (well, Uprev did), my hatch doesnt have holes in it (yet, unless I can shave a few lbs off by doing so!!). No tire feathering, yes, I had the transmission and fuel filler hose replaced under TSBs back in the day.

My 2003 has pretty good - my point is not all 2003s are bad.

I would tell the seller that you're ready to purchase a 350z but you're not going to pay a premium and if he wants to get closer to KBB you'd be willing to talk, give him your contact info and move on.

I'd also branch out your search and consider finding a the car you want even if it's a few states away. Find the car you want, go out and see it and drive it home. Do as much homework / due diligence from behind your keyboard and then go see the car in person. It'll make for a great story on you found/procured the car. In colorado, there are plenty of Zs listed on craigslist and facebook marketplace

Never heard of nor had any of these issues on my ‘03. Sounds like rumored hysteria.... along the same lines as “Don’t buy A DE, they’re all inferior to the mighty HR!”
