Default Got a z

So I finally bought myself a 350z as a project, and I need some advice on some things to start with.

firstly, the mini filter on the left side of the valve cover. I feel like I should know what this is but have never seen one lol, what is it and what are the advantages of it...

secondly, it’s not in the picture, but the left headlight has lots of moisture stuck in it and I was wondering if it was easier to replace the headlight or take it off and drain/dry it. If I had to replace it, does anyone know what headlights these are as they don’t appear stock.

i also had a bit of white smoke and gas smell when first starting up, but it had been siting for a while (a month or so) before I got it, I think there’s no coolant leaking or any gasket issues but I haven’t been able to have a proper look in there yet. Hopefully just a condensation build up.

thanks guys.

Congrats on the new Z!

The filter on the valve cover looks like an open breather setup/PCV delete.

Those headlights look like the generic aftermarket you can get for cheap. I wouldn't worry about fixing them. Some people like them, but you'd be better off upgrading to some 06+ depo bi-xenon headlights. The output is much better and the construction is more solid.

Welcome and congratulations!

Yes, if I were you, ditching the headlights would be job 1. As mentioned, Depo is known as a good aftermarket brand.

Put the PCV back and the stock hose or get a proper catch can.
