Default Nismo Z #730 just came in

well guys, i work at a nissan dealership in central california, and we just got our first Nismo Z in. it's silver. this car is sick! it's in detail right now, and all of the salesman are in the back gawking at it.

to be honest, i didnt really like the look of it until i saw the one we got in the dealership. the body kit really does look way better in person.

if anyone is interested in the car, you can call me about it. after all, it is for sale. 209 202 7793. my name is Cameron.

unfortunately i dont get to set the price, so there is a mark up on it, like nearly all dealerships, from what i understand.

yes there is a reason - and its called supply and demand

if they can sell it at a markup then more power to them. i found mine for 2000 off msrp but if i were a dealer and i got some sucker for over MSRP thats extra $$$ in MY pocket... at the end of the day it IS a business

its wierd, the dealership that i got my nismo at also has #53? something. they have had it for two months now. i thought these things would sell like hotcakes. does no one know what they are? does no one know the incredible preformace these deliver for under 38k? or are people unsatisfied with them considering how many are on ebay?

Well I will say that when I found my Nismo the sticker was like $43 or $42, I after walking out twice they gave me the car for $37. I was told that was no mark up, but you can never trust the dealership.

I guess you can't knock him for trying

Its too bad that someone (who doesnt set the price) could get one at/below MSRP

I got mine for about 2k below MSRP. The local dealer had there's marked up to $50k and wouldn't deal. So I shopped around on the internet until I found someone that would. I can understand why a dealership would ask for a markup on one (you can't get it if you don't ask for it) but to be unwilling to deal is just dumb. Especially with a third-time repeat buyer.

I've had mine for 6 weeks now, and I drive past the dealership at least twice a week. Their's is still sitting there, not earning them any money, while I enjoy the hell out of mine.

A car is worth only what someone is willing to pay for it. If people will pay $45k for it, then it's a $45k car. If you can only find someone that will pay $35k, then it's a $35k car. MSRP, is the SUGGESTED retail price. In the end, the price is set is by the public and region. Supply and demand.

50k??

Jeez, that's ricockulous.

I know what you mean about stealerships though, we were a repeat customer to the very local Nissan dealership, and I wanted a NISMO and even put money down on one with them about 2 months before they were delivered.

I think they either didn't care, or couldn't get one delivered - and so kept procrastinating and telling me "they would be getting one in soon".

Anyway - eventually one of the sales managers told me that a dealership about 25 minutes drive away had two - and I went down. Basically paid a little over (not much) over MSRP and drove away in it that night.

I wonder if it's just that people generally are too lazy to hunt around, and they figured I'd be with them until they all sold out and then would have to buy a regular Z??

My previous car WAS a Z (GT), so it's not like they wondered if I could afford it.

I just think they are too lazy to get off their asses...

I took GREAT pleasure in driving over there to pick up the now useless deposit check in the NISMO - and made sure that the salesman and a maintenance guy came out to check it out

The look on his face was priceless...

i just wanted to let everyone know that the car has been sold. it was sold on the 3rd day of having it, and yes, it sold with the $3000 mark up, not a penny discounted.

bottom line, he came to market a limited edition 350z on a 350z forum and the buyer may have been from this forum, or maybe wasn't, but either way he got a nice premium on the nismo and that's good for other nismo owners... think how a nismo owner would feel if the car was going for 20% discount off the msrp, not so desirable right?
