Smile Greetings and Questions from a new member

Hi everyone, my name's TJ... im new to this forum, especially to the Nismo 350z section of this site. Im actually extremely keen on getting one myself as well, this spring. I read up on the car, especially the first hand experience from you Nismo owners.... and it seems like you guys SWEAR by this car! That's real good... makes me all the more confident in making my purchase soon. I did have some questions for you Nismo owners out there, more on the likes of who has done the most experimenting so far:

1. Has anyone tried to fit the Nismo with other goodies to boost up some solid power such as UR Pulley set, lighter flywheel, headers, high flow cats, x-pipes, ECU tuning, etc? If so, what are numbers looking like AFTERWARDS?

2. In terms of the above question, are products even OUT yet for the nismo?? Or Am i jumping the gun by even asking about aftermarket mods to the Nismo??

3. They say the Nismo Z has a "nismo tuned" exhaust. To what degree is it "tuned" ? Is it a catback or an axle back? Would an upgrade to the current "nismo tuned exhaust" prove better?

Sorry if i sound too inquisitive... im just liking this car so much, that i would love to start upgrading it slightly once i purchase one. Not looking to go wild and crazy w/ a turbo kit or anything, but if anyone has upgraded with any of the above mentioned products, i'd love to hear about the experience. So far on the forum, it doesn't look like anyone's done too much to their Nismos besides the dual air intakes (which is great too).

Again, greetings to you all, and Im HOPING to become a Nismo owner myself, very soon!

TJ

The Nismo shares the same HR engine as the standard 07/08 Z's. So the answer to most of questions 1&2 can be found in the VQ35HR forum. I know that the HF cats are available and that ECU tuning has not been released, but I don't specifically about the parts you have listed. Not sure if there are headers or UD pulleys.

As for the "tuned exhaust", it's really just a muffler with the same exhaust as a standard '07/'08 Z as well. From what I understand, it's a better factory exhaust than the previous, so swapping it out for another probably won't yield as much gain (as minimal as they were before). I'm also not sure about the feasibility of swapping the exhaust because of the way the rear bumper is designed. I'm sure someone will try it soon enough though.

There's just not much available at the moment, but that's more due the recent engine revision than the fact that it's a "tuned" specialty version.

Ok thanks. Ya according to my research I have also found the high flow cats but no headers for '07 as of yet (i think).

And about the exhaust, i figured it was too good to be tru to have a FULL Nismo exhaust underneath the car. I was hoping it wouldn't be just a muffler, but oh well. I woulnd't mind upgrading the full exhaust, but good point about the design of the rear bumper. Maybe an after market exhaust can't be swapped that easily as yet.

I guess by the time im ready to purchase (march or so), hopefully more products and knowledge regarding mods to the Nismo, will become readily availalble.

Thanks for the insight.

Any upgrades to yours so far??

Only if you count the oil filler cap and radiator caps.

I was gonna remove the y-pipe and mid-pipe from my S-tune and swap it over to the new one, but after comparing the exhausts, the connections for the mufflers are different and couldn't be done.

My plans are pretty much to just wait until an ECU reflash comes along, maybe get some Nismo intakes. Futher down the line I might get a clutch and flywheel and maybe the 3.9 gears. I'm not one of the guys that's chasing big power and I like having the reliability of staying NA. I just want a little more punch and throttle response than the stock car.

Yup, i agree. Im not trying to mess with forced induction either. You need a big wallet for that as well as constant maintenance.

I would love to get intakes, headers, an upgraded exhaust, high flow cats, UR pulley, a lighter flywheel, and an ECU tune. That should add some serious power to the car while keeping it NA. Maybe get the windows tinted and call it a day.

Anyways, thanks for the insight again. Look for a Magnetic Black Nismo coming to a forum near you!!
