Default Factory Nismo kits on standard Z's?

After seeing a few f/s threads on this forum for front/rear Nismo bumpers, I was curious what other Nismo owners thought about it.

Personally, it doesn't really bother me but I do have to scratch my head. I don't think the V3 kit really all that pretty. It's function over form and I can get behind that, but all the pieces are made to work together with the complete car. If you take one piece of it and put it on a standard 350z then I would think you would lose a lot of the function. Then it would be form over function.

I just think that if you were a form over function person and wanted to add these parts, there's much better looking pieces available. Don't get me wrong, I love the way my car looks, but I would not have added this kit to my old Z at all. The kit really does screw up the lines of the factory car whereas there are many other kits that compliment them.

So what do others think? And please try to keep from saying stupid stuff such as "they're all posers". I'm interested in a grown-up discussion, not a flame war.

I don't think there is any point to it myself.

As you say - there are much better looking kits that perhaps don't have so much function.

I actually like the unusual looks to our car, it's different - clearly developed for function and to a lot of people that looks good because they remember the racing cars that these are based on.

I think it's not so much posers as people that perhaps couldn't afford to buy the NISMO, but could afford a used (or even new) regular Z - especially the basic model.

They want the NISMO look, and that's ok - but it does detract a little from the people that have bought the whole package. If you had a lot of NISMO wannabes about, it might start to look played out...

As someone else said all along, we will always have the aluminum number plate on the transmission, and the welding and extras that Autech/NISMO added.

I can't wait to see which idiot first fits a kit like that to an auto transmission regular Z - and then gets burned for it

only half of the reason i bought the nismo is because of the limited staus. the other half no one could copy with any kind of affordability which is the welds, and added capabilities due to suspension andi dont think you can order the diffusers(im sure im wrong, but have not seen them). i bought it to drive and only show off a little bit..... i guess i really dont care, if someone wants to put the nismo bumpers on for aerodynamics than it is a performance thing and more power to them. if they do it for looks theres alot better looking ones out there. if they do it to copy the nismo they still get the aerodynamics so win win for them and ill see them on the track!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello to everyone !!!! Im new to this forum so please excuse my input if i affend any one , but i believe that no matter what they do to there Z they are no way able to compare to what the factory has done to these Special Z . Like a comment that one of the guys said we still have the aluminum plate on the tranny and they cant duplicate that!!!! I can say im a proud owner of one of the 1500 cars made and im loving every minute of it . i will try to download pics soon so look for them .

That's exactly it. As long as you know what you have,
and that it's genuine, it does not matter what they do.

I have a 2006 enthusiast with 4000 miles, I purchased it 12.30.05 I track my car only, and I'm always looking the best add on's for my car to improve my time and myself as driver that's why I added nismo kit, just waiting for my side skirts addon's, I like factory items, the fit is great and no issues everything from nismo available has been installed in my car and a lot more stuff for the track, I hope you guys like it. I do respect the nismo guys and I only add the kit on because of the benefit.

^Looks interesting with the big wing and hood. I think it looks good though.

I'm curious, who did you buy the parts from? And do you mind sharing how much they cost.

I don't care if people get the kit, but then again, I hope the front bumper doesn't become as common as the V2 nismo bumper.

On a regular Z, I'd get the V3 front bumper with maybe INGs sides and rear. I think the rear of the Nismo Z looks good, especially in person, but not sure I'd buy it separate. The V3 rear diffuser/bumper definitely needs some type of wing to balance it out though.

pastelin - That is sweet looking. I'm not partial to the louvres on the quarter windows but it looks nice with that giant wing and the standard nismo sides. I'm still looking forward to seeing the v3 kit without the 2-tone paint scheme.

I think you have an awesome looking Z! I believe (in my book) that you are completely exempt from the whole "poser" thing. You've put a lot of time, money and effort into your car, and you only put it on the track, meaning it’s a track car, for tracks only. It's not like your racing on the streets....that would be a different story. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the comments I guess the angle I took the pictures makes the wing look huge , is 70 inch from Apr, and you can buy the kit from Justin @ west covina Nissan, front, difusser, rear bumper around $1700 plus body shop, the car is for track use only and the window louvers are just for looks you can not see if you are on the street, hood, trunk, fender are CF (fitting 6-7) but trying to reduce more weight & NOS system to keep up with corvettes, porsches, etc

Did you need to buy any extra hardware to fit the front bumper + diffuser? Any price on sideskirts?

I was going to get headers after fixing my suspension but I may be swayed by this...

thanks, side skirts are around nismo Z side skirts around $600 nismo side skirts $400 do the math both look good to me, almost same hardware except front lower diffuser need extra bracket not available but I made one with aluminum, hole puncher and factory screws, about the paint, car will go soon to body shop to match color but with this weather I don't know if car will be ready for my next track event.factory is always better and the $$$ makes sense, trouble free believe me.
