Default Noob Tire Question

My question is: Can the current rims on the Nismo support a 275/245 width tire? (front/rear) I forget the actuall specs for the tires but I was thinking of going 10mm wider both front and rear when I have to replace the tires, but keep the same depth to with ratio (35 or 40 or whatever it is)

I have seen all kinds of tire threads, but I can't figure out if people are buying new rims with tires when they say they are going from 265 to 275. My orginal though was the the rim was made to fit a X mm tire and that a bigger one would be to big for the rim. I am just looking for some clarification on this.

I really like the stock Bridgestones on the car and am probably just going to stick with them, but I figure heck, if they sell them wider for a negliable difference in price the extra grip can't hurt.

I know that most of you have not even come close to the end of your tire life yet, but for those of you who have, what have you done?

(O and what is the life expectancy of the stock tires? Around 10K -12K miles?)

Thank you

This is what you should run if you want bigger.

Rear 19x10 you should not go over 275.35.19 There is very good reason why nissan puts 265.35. on rear on 10inch wide rim. The more side rubber you have going over the rim the more rolling your going to have.

I would keep 245.40.18 on front.

255/275 is a good combo for daily driving.

Others have gone wider or are considering for more grip/track oriented setup.

I always thought Nissan cheaped out on the rear tires.

The more the tire rolls during cornering, the less traction and tire you have on the road. 275/35/19 has a larger sidewall than the stock 265/35/19s, but the 275s will still offer more overall grip.

Tire manufactures recommend a range of wheel sizes for tires. The ranges are tested for performance and safety.

Adding 10 mm gets you little in performance. What does matter is tire brand. In other words a good 245 mm tire will out perform a mediocre 265 mm tire.

so for those of you who are going to stick with the stock Nismo rims, what are you doing tire wize daily driving when the Bridgestones kick it.

1) Brand?
2) Model?
3) Size (Front and Rear)?

The question is not unique to NISMO. Before buying tires check these test results:https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....ighlight=tires.

The reason I ask on this section of the fourm, is when I search the tire threads I seem to find that a lot of people are not using factory rims when swapping tires, as well as diffent models of the 350z having different rim sizes to begin with.

I am just really interested in the Nismo owners responses because I know if if their set up is working with there stock rims + the stiff suspension of the Nismo and what not, it gives me piece of mind. But thank you for that results link.

Have any of you gotten the Michelin Sport tires #1 on https://my350z.com/forum/showthread.p...ighlight=tires ? How are they working for you?
