Did I just kick my car in the balls?
Yeah I just had this conversation with a buddy of mine yesterday.
If you didn't let the clutch all the way out, you're fine. My buddy, in his Trans-Am, almost did, dropping from redline in 3rd, to 2nd instead of fourth, and it was just the worst noise you could ever here.
You'd know if you ****ed up your car. Your tires would start hopping because they seized up, your diff would explode, you'd have a heart attack. The damage would be obvious.
You? Just a little burn on the clutch. No biggie.

I definitely did that too when I first got the Z. I meant to go from 6th to 4th but I accidentally hit 2nd. It felt like I had slammed on the brakes and the engine went way past the redline. I put the clutch back in immediately and have driven the car about 20K miles since with no issues. You'll be fine. 5K RPMs is no big deal.

We have things called synchros... "Double-clutching" is retarded and not necessary.
