Hey guys,
I know you must get tired of every noob asking you this, but I was wondering if you could pass me along to some decent sites or offer reccomendations for some slight performance upgrades to my nismo. I don't want to do anything drastic like FI, or engine internals. I like the exhaust tone of the nismo right now.

What is the weakest part of the intake/exhaust system when the car is stock? I am thinking of picking up something like the dual nismo intakes, headers, catalytic convertors, or the exhaust leading up to the muffler, if they sell that as a unit. Just the basic flow mods should do it for me. I also saw someone recommending a 'technosquare' reflash. Would the ECU still pass inspection etc with the reflash? Any direction/guidance to a reputable site that has good prices on any of these things are also greatly appreciated.

I can definitly tell you your first mod should be HFC from stillen...Once that is over your next mod should be the injen dual cold air intakes and a brand of headers and exhaust....up to you on the last two! Have fun! also once your done with that.....get a reflash!

 

are you sure its a good idea to replace the nismo exhaust? Why even buy the nismo if your your gonna swap out the exhaust and such?

 

i wouldnt go with the stillen hfc. they seriously messed up my nismo. i ran them on the dyno and lost over 19 hp with them installed. my dyno run had huge downspikes in it. i had them cut out and created a test pipe and it fixed my power curve on the dyno. also the hfc made the exhaust sit to low when installed with the stillen headers. the exhaust hit the cross member and the rear sway bar. the headers fit great though.

 

search for a member A.H. he has a great thread on his NA HR motor which is all bolt-ons I believe last time I checked.

personally just drive it for now....seriously I know what you are feeling like you need to add your touch to it...

scroll through the threads here many of the owners have probably done what you may want to do...

 

HKS TI is the exhaust you want, with straight pipes if you can, with the Injen CAI.

That's it, if you want to keep it simple.

 

It's not a full "NISMO exhaust" it's just a different muffler with bigger tips that says "NISMO".

who the hell would pay $4550 for an exhaust in the first place?

yea that is expensive... id rather get the ARC single conversion exhaust instead though

 

i would recommend the arc single cause for some reason it looks more jdm

 

many will say that us about the choice of car we brought...so why have it stop...

 

Personally I love the ARC single exhaust, but don't have that much to blow on it. I am very happy with my JIC. Crawford cats is the way to go for your first exhaust mod, then I would get a cat back exhaust.

does anyone know when they'll be making a charger for the hr motor. I already have the dual injen intakes, hks dual exhaust, techno square re-flash and the hi flow cats. Im interested in on your guys opinions on what header to get, keeping in mind that as soon as the charger comes out, ill be ordering that too.

 

As in supercharger? Your guess is as good as anyone elses. A.H. has had pretty good gains with the Stillen Headers. They finally fixed all the **** ups with it too.

 

but much like the DE, headers on the HR don't really do much, it's switching out the cats and exhaust that give the better gains.

 

If you like the tone of the exhaust but want it a bit louder, get some HFC's. I got the Berks and like them a lot!

Now a intake system I would recommend the Injen CAI long tube since it is an actual CAI unlike the other intaeks which pull in engine heat.

I also got myself tuned by UPREV and love it! Really woke the car up!
