Doesn't Ford, GM, and Chrysler keep all of their first run/concept/show cars/etc? They were auctioning off a bunch of them a while back. At least they went into the hands of people who care, and the manufacturers got some coin. Why couldn't Nissan do the same? Oh well...

Don't blame Nissan as a whole, its probably just a couple guys on the design team responsible for the 370Z's taillights.
Weren't there 2 pre-production Nismos numbered 0000 for promotion purposes? I thought I remembered reading that there were a pair of them, both redline, used for shows and loaning out to magazines for test drives, etc.

It is some kind of law, totally outside of Nissan's control. The GT-R mules face the same fate - Lightning Guy was trying to get his hands on one, strictly as a track car, but it can't be done. They did the same thing with the '03 350. They must save 00001 for the collections or something.
They made more than 1 Redline #0000 Nismo 350z in 2007. I saw it at Zattack 2 days ago. It's still being driven for long term test purposes around Nashville area weekly.
