Any preproduction car that is registered to be allowed on the roadways has to be "decommissioned" via crusher. Up here in Michigan, this is VERY common as the roads are filled with test vehicles. Especially emissions cars.

Nissan has no choice in the matter. EPA demands after the permit expires, the car must be crushed. This is also true of imported test cars that are given a temporary exemption. (They must be exported or crushed.) I had pictures somewhere on my hard drive of a R34 Skyline GT-T that was being destroyed. Of course, the guys at Nissan had already pilfered the wheels and some other parts. Legally, they can't take the engine.

I'll have to search the backup drive and post 'em.

long term test purposes? i'm sure all of the testing for the NISMO Z is pretty much taken care of.

Guys, the other 2007 Redline red #0000 Nismo was at Z Attack 8 just this past weekend. I am sure others have photos as well.
Word was that that particular chassis had over 30,000 miles already.

Nismo 558,

Instead of jumping to conclusions, why not opt to jump at the opportunity to drive to the Nissan USA head quarters in Cool Springs Tennessee and take some pics for your self.

Only pic I have of it on 4/18/2009 (Note: top right of picture). The red GTR to its left is also a "demo" pre-production model that Nissan USA in Nashville/Cool Springs drives weekly.

I'm sure plenty of other people have pictures to prove there is still one in existance.

Anyone able to scrounge up some pics to prove that another #0000 exists? I'm curious myself.

From what i remember there were 3 0000 nismo cars. I dont remember if 2 were red. I know there was a silver 0000 as well. That nismo at ZA8 this year may or may not have had the 0000 plate. I didnt look. I would assume it did.

As far as the crusher, it goes beyond the EPA as well. Lots of insurance reasons. The law states something like no part be removed or used on any other motor vehicle, cant be sold or donated for any purpose.

Here are my pictures of the Silver 0000 from 7/2007. I made a post somewhere here with the pictures the night Nissan showed it to me.

Weather is was crushed or not, the practice is pretty common.

Some of the famous GM Motorama cars were sent out to be destroyed (for some legal reason or something). These were one of a kind concept cars too not just the first of many identical cars. Thank fully there weren't crushed but just broken/cut apart and someone at the junk yard saved the pieces so some are now being restored.
