Default Anybody here upsized their tires?

Actually, now that I've thought about it, many Nismo owners have gone up to 255.40.18F and 275.35.19R with the Nismo RAYS wheels and stock suspension with no issues.

I'm going to take it one step further by going 265.35.18F and 285.30.19R and I'm wondering if anyone else here has done that. I have and will remain on the stock suspension so I don't anticipate any issues so for those who have upsized +2, have you all had any issues?

You have decreased rear axle clearance 7.25mm.

At 100.0 MPH speedometer will read 102.22 MPH.

True, as well as overall tire height front and rear is decreased about 0.4 in. and overall width is increased about 0.8 in. Also, the stock size difference is 2.5% (245/265) while the upsize (265/285) difference will be 1/9%, therefore, I don't anticipate any problems with the TC.

But my question is has anyone here has gone +2 and if so, what their experiences are.

In race form on stock wheels I run 295/30/18 front and 315/30/19 rear. You won't have any fitment issues with those size tires.

Thanks for the reply, those are mighty wide tires. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm guessing with that much wider front tire, you've lost a bit of steering feel while adding a bit more steering effort (which I assume will also happen to me going from stock 245 to 265 on the front).

Haven't lost anything. But I do run an aggressive alignment. Toe out front, toe out rear, Cobb front bar at full stiff.
Remember I'm running R comps not street tires, stationary it takes a bit more effort, but moving, its just fine

I haven't had an issue unless I'm pushing too hard.

Well the s-tune runs 275/35/19 on the rear, with 9.5 rims, would work well with 10 inch rims, even 285/35/19 will work nicely. However your speedo will be off. why the NISMO went with a 265 on 10 inch rims , and 275 on the 9.5 NISMO makes no real sense. You should have no issues with those tires at stock height.

^Thanks for the reply.

I've also been flirting with going 295 in the back but I've read stories that I may run into TC issues going +3 so I'm inclined to go the more conservative route of 285.

Also, 295 may be too wide and I don't want to look like one of those clown cars whose tires stick way past the fenders and quarter panels.

I went to 275/30/19 for the rear...Bridgestone RE-11. The slip light comes on every so often...

That's because if you stuck with the stock 245.40.18 on the front, your rear tire is slightly shorter than the front, which is a no no. If you want the TC not to kick in, switch to either 35 profile tires up front or 35 profile tires on the rear.

^ hmm.. So it's a 3.1% difference? I'm changing mine to 17s, having a tough time choosing tires within 3% difference. What I'm concerned about is if the 3% difference is based on the stock Nismo/GT wheel size of 245/40-18 F and 265/35 -19 R, instead of the other regular Z tire sizes of 225/45 -18F and 245/45-28 R

Example:
Front 255/40-17s -2.7% difference from Nismo/GT wheels, and -3.6% difference from regular Z size
Rear 275/40-17s -2.4% difference from Nismo/GT wheels, and -3.8% difference from regular Z size

Curious if there's separate wheel sensors for our cars, or if they just cheap out and put the same sensor into both cars despite the different tire sizes. So, use which default # to calculate the difference, Nismo/GT wheels or the regular Z wheels?

I'm about to switch to 265/40/18 on the front and 285/19/35 on the rear.. stock rims / suspension, is the consensus this is a decent upgrade with little to no TCS issues?

Also, thinking RE050A Pole Posistions or PS2... 11's look nice but NO freaking treadwear.

Thoughts?

Car looks good like that, got any closer shots of the tires?

No clearance issues with that size though? How much suspension stuff is still stock? i'm assuming camber arms and all that will let you get more clearance if needed, so just curious.

Suspension is 100% stock, no control arms, no springs....nothing
I run B stock in SCCA autocross so control arms are illegal.
There is 0 rubbing.
Unfortunately I don't have any closer shots. The tires are dismounted and wont' be on until next season.
