P.S. I really miss driving my z...Today was our first autox in Cincinnati and obviously, I couldnt participate...it was ~75degrees/perfect weather...Grrrr!

Thanks guys! And musubi, I'll be taking a lot of pics of the slave install, hopefully I can just do some kind of write up for anyone else who wants to do this...This has to be kind of common with the HR transmissions and aftermarket clutches...

I'm actually pretty interested in your upcoming pics of the install. Definitely keep us posted! The stock slave giving out is fairly common amongst the HR + aftermarket clutch group, from my readings anyways. The breakage problem is suspected to be due to two main reasons: pressure plate contact with bearing and additional pressure of aftermarket pressure plates. JWT uses the DE pressure plate design with an HR bearing surface, possibly causing the bearing to slip off the pressure fingers. The only aftermarket clutch kit I know of which has a correctly designed pressure plate for the HR is Exedy. I think the HD slave and JWT should be a good pair up.

Hey all, sorry for such a late update on the slave cylinder, but I have been SUPER busy with work. (Heck, I'm even at work now!!!)

Ok, this will be disappointing to everyone wanting mass pictures, but I decided to take the z to a trusted shop and have them install it due to the lack of time I have had lately. PROBLEM was that they weren't too familiar with the install so I ended staying and helping them out. The other PROBLEM was my idiot self forgot to charge my camera to take pics...

Install was surprisingly easy. It literally was taking the tranny off, grinding down some on the plate that holds the stock slave cylinder to fit the larger aftermarket slave cylinder, installing the new slave, putting the tranny back on, then flushing the system. Literally the hardest part was flushing the system. I had to adjust the clutch a bit to get it to flush correctly. Other than that, everything is GOLDEN!

Maybe its just me being excited to drive my z again, but the clutch actually seems more consistent and strong in the pedal movement if that makes sense at all. All in all, the transmission feels perfect, shifts perfect, and I am very satisfied. I would recommend this to ANYONE who has an HR and an aftermarket clutch.

Any questions, feel free to ask as I was there for the installation. Sorry again about the pics but I did manage to take a pic of the part...Sorry haha...

Agreed.

Glad you got your slave installed and back up and running! Hopefully, you won't need to touch that area until you need a new clutch, way way in the future.

By the way, how's the chatter with the JWT flywheel? I guess it might be hard to compare it to stock, since I think you bought it with it installed.

Brandon, I was talking to Sharif from Forged and I sent him your video of the transmission whine that I'm also getting and he says that's not normal. So I'm guessing we have to get a tranny replacement.

Anyways...

About the tranny...The small whine is definitely normal. The video probably made that sound a bit louder than it really is. I don't hear much of a whine at all. The guy at forged is probably thinking something else. The small whine you're hearing is probably due to the stout 1st gear. You can take it to Nissan to see what they say, and if you get a new tranny, sweet! But the z transmission is a loud transmission, so its just part of the car.

As for my JWT clutch, the chatter isnt too bad at all. It chatters a bit more than stock, but its nothing overbearing. Its actually the flywheel chattering, and you'll always have some level of chatter since the z tranny is loud. When I first had my 06 z, it was annoying, but now I almost like hearing it...haha

I really have no idea what's going on in this thread because too long didn't read, but OP your car is so clean and tastefully modded. Keep up the good work!
