Default How do you keep your nismo emblem scratch free?

I was working on the radio the other day and when I pulled the shifter surround off I scratched me nismo emblem.

Is the anything I can do aside from polising it to keep it looking mad fresh?

Is there anything I can do to protect it?

Has anyone polished theirs to a high gloss finish? If so pics please.

Stupid little scratch is bugging me almost as bad as the marks on the drivers door.

I did the same thing when I put a radio in. I really scratched the hell out of it. I pulled it off and polished it and now it looks like complete *** and it just scratches easier now. I looked in to getting it replaced by Nissan and it seems impossible. I've called and written letters to anyone and everyone and their answer is always "Sorry we can't help at this time."

I think the only way to have it fixed is to find someone that can reproduce it from scratch. I don't even know where to begin with that. Anyone have any ideas? I'm willing to pay a pretty penny to replace my mangled number plate.

Is the emblem removable?(WOULD THINK SO).
I'd take it to a shop that does trophies/awards and anodizing etc.
They may be able refurb or reproduce.I had a similar problem with a Jaguar logo plate
of a cam cover. It was completely worn.I had it reproduced at one of these shops.
Looked better than the original!

I'd clear seal the plate with a product such as Rustoleum.
It will protect it from scratching

Yea thats what I was wondering about about polishing it because its not a polished color, it looks like it was in a room with a chain smoker for a few months.

I wish they made some kind of hard plastic protecter like a phone case that just sticks over it. Guess i'll be covering it with tape for now on when I remove my radio, or maybe be a little bit more careful.

This thread is the ****! You guys are so funny!

There was another thread about this and I asked at my local dealer, too. You can have the plate replaced, but it's crazy expensive (like $175 or something) and you have to send in your plate so it's not duplicated.

+1. And the heat inside the car when it's outside has almost shrink wrapped the clear bra. I can only see a faint border of the material.

Next time mask off all surrounding areas/aesthetic pieces before you start to work on anything.

I looked into this at my local dealership and they said that it isn't in any of there part books and without a part number there isn't a way to order it. I wrote Courtesy Nissan with the same reply. I even contacted Nissan Consumer affairs with no luck.

What's the trick your dealer uses?
