As you go through the install I would be interested in what stock parts, that remained, on the car did you have to modify to get the kit to fit. Especially up front around the intercooler piping?

Off the top of my head i think the only stock parts that have to get modified are splicing some wires, trimming a little plastic off of the fan shroud, and drilling some holes into the frame and bumper brace for moutning brakets. So nothing too major.

Continued to chip away at it

Started by triming the bottom right corner of the fan shroud.

Mounted the supercharger and the bracket to the block

Reinstalled the alternator, installed the supercharger oil filter on the passenger side frame rail, idiler pully,PS lines, all associated mounting brackets (4)and bolts , and a semi installed PS pump
http://www.flickr.com/photos/75614849@N08/7028591827/http://www.flickr.com/photos/75614849@N08/7028591827/ by http://www.flickr.com/people/75614849@N08/, on Flickr

It was a pretty good night. The only issue that we ran into is that the holes on the bracket that the power steering pump bolt into are tiny bit off. Enough that 1 bolt doesn't thread on. No worries though, just gunna dremel it out ever so slightly. To be honest, everything has been going very smoothly so far. Just look at the instructions, find the, parts, install. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Here are some pics from a beautiful Saturday afternoon.

Got the power steering pump to bolt up nicely and installed the PS lines. All this wiring will be tucked away further along in the build.

Anyways, the clutch, flywheel, and upgraded slave cylinder should be going in tomorrow. I will also be going back to stock catalytic converters for their longevity over high flow cats.

is this kit fairly basic by following the "manual" or is it best to get it done by the pros? either way its coming along nicely, cant wait to see the final numbers. wouldn't mind doing this myself but i just don't have the coin for it right now ha.

This is a straight forward install. That being said, it would suck to have to do this in a little detached garage . Working on a lift makes it a lot easier. Me and 2 journeyman mechanics are working on this after working hours. You have to be extremely organized as there are literally hundreds of bolts, fittings, clips packaged in plastic baggies. Also if its just one person going the install , then it will take them quite a while.

ha yea i bet it would take some time, but i bet if your meticulous when it comes to your mods and you have a good sense of knowledge of how to do this kind of thing not to mention the tools, i bet you could pull it off.... that being said, i don't know if i would try and pull this off by myself.

Ya you're pretty much right. Just have to care about what your doing. There's been a couples time where we have caught each others mistakes with the install process. Its also pretty fun building something like this.

Default Progress

Ok so did a few hours of work this evening. Install is going very smoothly and everything is fitting perfectly. Only incident was my hand slipped off a rachet and sliced my finger pretty good rookie mistake. Im pretty stoked about the build now that the shinny bits are going on. M3 hunting in no time

Oil filter relocation. I had to drill three 5/16" holes in the frame to mount the oil filter bracket. Will go with a oem filter.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/75614849@N08/7040944287/http://www.flickr.com/photos/75614849@N08/7040944287/ by http://www.flickr.com/people/75614849@N08/, on Flickr

Reinstall the anti roll bar. It was a tight fit torquing a couple bolts here next to the supercharger.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/75614849@N08/7040945083/http://www.flickr.com/photos/75614849@N08/7040945083/ by http://www.flickr.com/people/75614849@N08/, on Flickr

Lower intercooler piping

http://www.flickr.com/photos/75614849@N08/6894848756/http://www.flickr.com/photos/75614849@N08/6894848756/ by http://www.flickr.com/people/75614849@N08/, on Flickr

K&N air filter and turbosmart blow off valve. I was talking to one of the guys at gtm about recirculating the bov to the intake pipe, but they advised me that the vq35hr doesn't need to have a recirculated setup. Can anyone confirm this? I mean if it doesn't have to then it doesn't have to. I heard gtm switched from a bosch by pass valve to turbosmart bov due to problems with compressor surge.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/75614849@N08/7040946397/http://www.flickr.com/photos/75614849@N08/7040946397/ by http://www.flickr.com/people/75614849@N08/, on Flickr

Installed the intercooler mid pipes

http://www.flickr.com/photos/75614849@N08/6894850040/http://www.flickr.com/photos/75614849@N08/6894850040/ by http://www.flickr.com/people/75614849@N08/, on Flickr

So i guess that the remaining things left is install some new spark plugs (1 step colder) , upper intercooler piping, and the balance of the stock parts. Gotta fill the car with fluids and prime the supercharger oiling system, install stage 3 clutch and flywheel. Then tune of course.

Hey! Good to see another local guy doing this! ....Here I thought i was gonna be the only one.. DAMMIT! LOL! I also live in the Edmonton area, finally got my supercharger kit from GTM.. Waiting for Sam to send me the ROM files so i can begin my install. What shop are you doing your install at? Hard to find a good shop in this area, I would like to use them to install my clutch, kind a pain in the a** to do that part without a hoist!

Who are you going to get to tune your car? I'm kind of at a loss on this, I was thinking Lightspeed in Red Deer, but I recently heard a couple horror stories... We should hook up once we get this all together!

Howdey! Good to see another guy that went with the GTm sc kit. What stage did you get? Im still waiting for my flash cable to come in and to get my tune from gtm. Im pretty sure you can start doing the install with out having your ECU reflashed (provided you have no codes).

Im doing the install at a shop called Savvy Import.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/75614849@N08/7042594971/http://www.flickr.com/photos/75614849@N08/7042594971/ by http://www.flickr.com/people/75614849@N08/, on Flickr

I have delt with them alot over the years. Their work and carftmanship is stellar and extremely professional. Highley reccomend them. Yea and i would hate to have to do this install without a hoist. Not saying that its impossible though.

I was considering lightspeed as well, but the guys at Savvy know a guy locally who seams to know wtf he's doing. If things dont pan out with him, i think ill go to lightspeed. I know they are very experienced with tuning and are a certified Uprev tuner. Either way im going to have the car tuned professionaly, im not going to "learn" how to tune on this car and f*ck it up lol.

And yea for sure meet up once are kits are in and running smoothly
